PulsedMedia seedbox cannot torrent
So, one BF deal I grabbed was a seedbox from @PulsedMedia...
Unfortunately, I cannot use their web panel to successfully add a torrent to ruTorrent and I can't figure out the rTorrent RPC info to handle it like any other seedbox I've ever used.
I opened a ticket about the problem and they responded:
We are really sorry but we are unable to help in every single possible way of using the service on a one on one basis. We just do not have the manpower for such as the ways to use are as varied as there are users. That means sadly that you will still have to use the actual service yourself.
They also suggested I join their Discord. But I'm in the limit of Discord servers and I'm not going to pay for Nitro just to join their Discord to get "ok why is my seedbox busted?" help because their docs don't provide any clue as to what might be going wrong. (I used to pay for Nitro but Discord did me dirty and I stopped paying out of protest.)
So, I'm asking here... 👋 Anyone have a seedbox from them and can help me figure out how to either manually add torrents or control it like any other rTorrent RPC interface?
I believe the torrent I was using for validation purposes was https://distrowatch.com/dwres/torrents/minios-5.1.0.torrent (literally a Linux ISO, yes), if someone else with service from them wants to validate if they see that it also cannot be added for them.

@PulsedMedia what do you say to yet another example of your incompetence? Shall we put in an application to have you banned?
I think the most puzzling thing was the statement that I "will still have to use the actual service [my]self" when obviously I had tried all the standard approaches and am trying to not circumvent their WebUI/system/whatever, which would likely cause later unsupportable breakage.
I am pretty sure most providers I've worked with on LEB/LET would agree that I'm generally a solid income source with little need for support after any initial service hiccups. And this, my friends, is definitely a hiccup.
This is exactly why we avoid this provider. Prices are cheap, so is their attitude towards customers.
Welcome to LowEndSupport, please wait for your answer
iirc the BF deal literally said that it excludes support.
@lewellyn if you're at the discord server limit (100) then I'm sure you don't actively use all of those servers and could leave one or create a temporary account for this purpose.
I'd suggest checking the link below and seeing if it applies to your server. Even if it isn't the source of your problem, it's something you want to get fixed if it's impacting your seedbox. I have been successfully using qBittorrent via their web interface, so I'm not any help with r/ru. https://pulsedmedia.com/clients/index.php/announcements/649/PMSS-Regression-in-resource-limits-in-latest-versions.-Is-your-memory-set-to-500MB-EDIT-1-Solved.html
Yeah, I don't want to be this kind of guy, but if your ticket is the same as description here "cannot torrent" and "can't figure out" then you know - I would most likely do the same as they have (and everyone else) standardized way to deploy this things, using the same script/image and it works for 985298589295982959285 (data from ass of course) other clients. This seems like PEBKAC.
I do not recall seeing that in the flash deal post, but I'll go and find and check it again when I have a break from work.
Unfortunately, though I'm not active in all, I am a moderator in many and get pulled in for things at random.
I recall seeing that and I'll re-check when I am able. Work pulled me in early today, alas. Thanks.
That's not an excuse if the service just doesn't work as advertised, though. You can't sell sawdust hotdogs at a discount and say no refunds because they're discounted.
It didn't say anything about support
the message pretty much sounds like "I don't feel like hiring people, thanks for the money, good luck"
Funny, it has been working and seeding fine to arabp2p.
zero chance after reading his offer threads i'd ever waste a dollar here. something about peanuts and monkeys, not directly applicable but you can stretch it to fit.
more like, "if you have problems, then you're too dumb for my target market and I'm too busy to fix it for you."
I am using @PulsedMedia and it works absolutely fine.
You just need to read the docs carefully because it is a bit different than normal vps.
I am using it for torrent (qbit torrent) and it works well. The only complaint I have is, it gives only 500 GB per month of high speed bandwith. But boy! Seeding gives way more ratio than my other storage servers.
I would have liked to continue but 500 GB high speed bandwidth limit per month is a big deal breaker.
I just need to let people know that I did not ever have an issue with pulsed media thank you for reading this and thanks for not breathing
I have a seedbox with them and it works fine. You just go to rTorrent and add a torrent as you usually do with other providers? What kind of error did you encounter?
Certainly the OP does not really expect us to use the service on his behalf?
For RuTorrent RPC you can use the Transdroid wiki page for example: https://wiki.pulsedmedia.com/index.php/Connecting_to_seedbox_using_transdroid
Presumably, that is what OP wants to do.
Or maybe he wants to interact with the socket XMLRPC API directly?
cat .rtorrent.rcfor the path to the socket. It really is impossible to cover every single use case, and indeed, users should read the documentation etc.
Funny enough, just saw one enraged french person demanding we install all apps for him, give him sudo (on shared server), upgrade distro, setup his jellyfin stack etc. (not the OP). But that is the level of stuff we have to deal with a lot of times.
Yeah, life sucks and we all have to deal with random crap, but let’s focus on OP, not some random anecdotal case of a French person unrelated to the forum. Oui?
Sounds like a fair response to a support ticket.
We’ll demand a copy of @Nekki archives so we never need to download again.
Popcorn time?
I'm not PM support, but have used rtorrent's web interface for years.
If Add Torrent (globe in the upper left) doesn't work, you can drag a .torrent file onto the page and it will upload.
rtorrent's web interface hasn't been maintained in years and there are bugs. Add Torrent only allows 20 (I think?) at a time, for instance.
If you mean ruTorrent, a new guy picked it a few years ago and fixes and updates have been happening madly since. Anyway the "Add Torrent" limit you mention was a php limit not a bug, one of several tweaks heavy users make.
Even rtorrent itself has been getting heavy work this past year, some seedbox provider started paying rakshasa (whatbox iirc, but don't quote me).
https://github.com/Novik/ruTorrent/releases
https://github.com/rakshasa/rtorrent/releases
Why can't the OP just install whatever torrent software he wants to himself and run that?
I have similar experience with this provider, their attitude towards customers scare away many potential customers.
usually with seedbox providers you're getting SaaS - Seedbox as a Service - not a generic VPS.
okay, one guy has poor tech skills bought a BF VPS which has no ( or low ) support......and he is fvcked
lesson learned, don't buy BF deal if you are a rookie.

That's true to some degree, but if he'd given the guy the response he posted here in the thread instead of the generic fuck you that he did give, would this thread even exist?
edited to be more pleasant.
