    Has anyone gotten this before? I check the CPU placement atleast 5 times from all angles with direct light from all sides, before I close the CPU lid on the motherboard. In the current market, such a mistake would be extremely costly.

    BTW, anyone here have experience with bending the pins back to their original position. I have seen people recommend either a razor blade or a plier. If you have done this before, which one would you recommend?

    Did it with a plier once, no issue. Gotta be careful though.

    Yah, I haven't built many PCs to face this issue but the images and videos online of bent pins scares me. So, wa prepping for something like that in the future.

    you can't get ready for that.. first you say - it's only a couple of pins.. then you try leveling them, and push a few others off while doing that.. then it's a knife in your hand trying to straighten whole rows of pins.. end up just saying PHUKET..

    USSR ended in 91. I came to USA in 2001. i grew up in Russia. it was not so great.. otherwise i wouldn't be where i am now..

    yeah pretty much so.. in earlier times during STALIN it was even worse.. a neighbor could report you to authorities for "free thinking" or "sympathizing the west" and before morning lights they would come, pick you up and send you to Gulag... those camps killed and allowed to die nearly 30mil of Russian people. just a bit more than during World War 2..

    Man, I always thought GUlag was like 1950s and such and that it was disbanded after that. It's news to me that they still operated during the later years of USSR. So, would it be safe to categorise USSR in those days as very similar to present North Korea?

    i had different dreams tonight. mostly influenced by @Saragoldfarb mentioning shrooms.. was so weird.. i ate them, i dried them for tea, i had trips.. weird stuff. and thanks to it being over a month of weed abstention, my dreams have recently returned with the most vivid and wild story lines, it is just like watching a movie during sleep... about 1.5hrs of dreams in 3, sometimes 4 cycles.

    i know you guys busy doing your back and forth but i have news on my Swedish VPS.. i was pointed out that it is unmanaged service and when buying, it clearly indicated only Debian 13 was available. which i knew... so here are the words copied:

    Easiest for you would be to wait for our Ubuntu Templates (no ETA yet, can be days/weeks).

    For the rest: You can download the correct iso via ISO list and mount it from there to boot from it and install Ubuntu.

    so it means i initially did wrong ISO [Server Install Image]. and what should have i used? THE option that says [Netboot tarball] then? cause it's the only option besides desktop and WSL ones. then i could boot and install then?

    why that admin is so cryptic... can't just point to which exact ISO i need? just awful..

    in any case i decided to try and compile dante-server first (several attempts if needed), because at least i can rebuild Debian 13 this way if something fucks things up...
