well to use dialup you needed a modem.. BBS is Bulletin Board System, it's like a forum in text mode..

then i joined FIDONET, had my own node at home, participated in echoes (like forum again, just all over the world).. modems were used to exchange those posts in echoes. and then central hubs would exchange with hubs in other cities.. it sounds cumbersome, but happened very fast.. and those who were hubs - they usually were somehow connected to avoid paying city -to city calling fees. and eventually they switched to exchanging all posts and stuff via internet.. and finally fidonet became obsolete.. it still exists tho, i think,..,
USSR ended in 91. I came to USA in 2001. i grew up in Russia. it was not so great.. otherwise i wouldn't be where i am now..
and yes, they did. starting even earlier in 1st grade in school you became OCTOBER-something, cause the great revolution happened in october back in 1917 or something like that.. when communists took over Russia, made it into Soviet Union, and Lenin was in charge for a few years.. i;m sure you can read about it from trusted sources..

Yup! I loved her in the older movies. She also acted in the movie Lion, which is a real story about a kid who got lost in India, was adopted by a couple in Australia, and based on his vague memory and Google Earth, found his long-lost family. Great watch. Dev Patel plays the actual person.
