Thank you @FAT32 for all your hard work.
First Black Friday megathread we have taken part in, certainly a fun experience and sleepless nights but all worth it in the end.
Can’t wait for the next one 😊
Don't have to wait actually:

Santa Pope?

Thanks to @FAT32, mods, providers and everyone that kept the hype up and deals coming all at the same time!
This is my first BFCM at LET! This year, layoffs happened and I suddenly had a lot of time. Initial goal was to move my hobby projects to somewhere cheaper to keep myself afloat longer. Somehow it led me to LET.
I’ve come to realize being here is not only about chasing deals, but a learning experience as a whole. I’ve mostly relied on services that managed everything and I only have to click on deploy. Seeing everyone talk about their self-hosting experience opened a new world. Especially the importance of backups. And also, I’m in awe of how many idlers one could own.
I didn’t participate as much as I’d like this time round. Still, I woke up to LET and said goodnight to LET. Will definitely remember F5ing my way to try to grab a flash deal for a VPS the day before my wedding. Already looking forward to next year!
Welcome to LET and I hope you have fun and enjoy staying around. I understand what you are going through with regards to layoff, because I am in the same depressing boat. The joy of life is about being, not about having anyway.
Welcome to the community.
Good luck with the job front.
Huge thanks and much appreciation to the whole team this year.
@FAT32 what you put on via the mega thread always impresses.
So many thanks for all the time @dp and @angstrom commit to this place to keep it awesome.
Thanks to the rest of the mod team, too, of course!
Thank you and I'm having fun!!
Sorry you had to go through it as well, definitely not fun. Took me quite some time to fully go from the mindset of "what did I do wrong" to "it was just an unlucky event and that's all."
It's a good time to ponder around the meaning of life, and trying the best not to get too many idlers than what budget allows. Wish you all the best on recovering.
Thank you, will need the luck when I start searching next year
I missed East Taiwan deals though.
What?
Where?
Thank you, providers
Sorry for your compassion. Indeed it is not fun, but life goes on. Show must go on - as Queen band said in a song.
I would say I am unlucky. I am unlucky in general; however, I was the first sperm from millions to reach the egg and get born.
Anyway, this problem we go through is not because of companies miscalculating stuff, nor because of our human mistakes as employees; it is more about greed of corporations and politicians at the top. Even this Black Friday event was marvellous in offers, yet we can see the providers struggle, and it's not their fault - we can literally feel it. This is a bigger game at play, one which us - the working class - can barely get our head around because we can't understand the intent.
Absolutely true. The meaning of life is about being.
Please enjoy your idlers and have fun. Idling server is not about waiting for something to happen or some project to pop into your mind. It is about your love for servers and for playing with them when you need them. Idling is about your passion for computing - regard this as your fun. Some people spend time on games, other watch movies or listen to music. We idle servers and then donate them to some non-profit project (because they idled too much).
deals?!
last chance, I need to pay other invoices tomorrow and all money gone!
Pay your invoices. Listen to your heard. You know things are bad, so enjoy what you've got. Seize the moment.
Good luck to your job search!
Having laid off more than once now though, I have seen that it doesn’t matter what you do, if the company sees you as a burden on the bottom line, you gotta go. Even if the idea is to prop up quarterly results for a bonus by someone higher up. It’s what it is. So no point in beating myself over it, the gods of profit just didn’t like me at that point in time.
I am pretty happy now to work at a place which doesn’t go out of its way to make you feel like “family” and simply focuses on bonuses instead. I will take the money, thank you. That’s all our contract really is. Me creating you value and getting some scraps in return.
@FAT32 - when will this thread close. It has been more than a week. Maybe it is time for the FAT lady to sing.
no keep it open FOREVER
we need to make it to page 1000 now
So it turns out I was the fumo trigger. Later, @plumberg asked me what a fumo is, and I explained it, though I can’t remember which thread it was in.

In my view, a fumo represents our affection for certain anime or cartoon characters — hoping they could stay by our side and ease some of the hardships of reality. After all, real life isn’t as idealized as the 2D world, though many works do reflect real-life themes and can be commemorative, like Eva, Totoro, or Zootopia.
No there was nothing, I cry now, I love West and East Taiwan.
... deals?
Why? Is there something planned at that page? You know there will be another megathread in a couple of weeks anyway, right?
