How do you optimize a windows 2022 server?
I have a windows 2022 server installed and im only running brave and i am using the default windows RDP to connect to my server (While allowing port 3389 to my Switzerland IP only) What services do you guys recommend disabling and what scripts do you use to make windows faster since it hogs the cpu a bit. It's a Xeon Yearly Deal 3 @ LET - LET VM Special
4 vCore
8 GB RAM
50 GB SSD Enterprise Disk
2Gbps Network
20TB Transfer
1 IPv4
Daily Backups
Virtualizor Panel
that i got for free from cain
since i am only using this VPS as a second "desktop" to browse the net

Windows and optimization? Are you on crack my dear friend? The only way is to throw in more hardware resources.
yeah....
I could drop windows 2022 and install Debain 13/Arch + KDE/XFCE and NoMachine
Switch the power plan from Balanced to High performance in the Control Panel.
I can suggest use linux instead
did that before, now im just watching fire
You should install Windows to dedi, not VPS, then performance is much better.
Install Debian
I’d recommend a lightweight memory-management tool: https://github.com/henrypp/memreduct
(see if it’s useful for you).
As for optimization, it’s pretty complicated and I don’t really have a clear answer. I just disable all unnecessary features in the app and use some tools to optimize things a bit.
At least on my Windows Server 2025 setup, that’s what I do, and even a 1-core AMD 7k62 CPU is enough to run it.
Well then install a desktop Linux distro like Fedora and RDP in.
Windows server is the most lightweight variant of Windows available. There's nothing more you can do to it.
Curious, how important is graphics acceleration to the performance of RDPs?
Disable SVChost splitting.
Uninstall Windows defender.
Disable Windows search drive indexing.

Download official ISO and build your own optimized ISO or image using nLite (Free version is enough) https://ntlite.com/download/
I built Windows Server 2019 ISO and it takes up about 12GB of hard drive space after installation, run smoothly on 2CPU/2GB RAM VPS
But the latency is most important thing imo, ideal for me < 50ms, 50-100ms is acceptable
That's disabled by default in Windows Server.
Also disable DEFRAG. That shit needs to be banned, by law.
Just download and configure VMWare OS Optimization Tool.
uninstall/disable all useless things/bloatware
what do you recommend?
Only thing you can do to windows is Debloat & Disable not used services

uninstall it?
With browser usage it's optimal to restart the system every couple days. It will work wonders
Got these 2 downloaded. thanks
but use it careful!

We love watching DEFRAG while listening to the mechanical sounds of the HDD.
Just be careful not to cause any writes to the disk, or the DEFRAG would restart from the beginning.
Remove the Anti Malware Executable and Windows Defender from Safe Mode
It runs super smooth
Don’t install updates or at least wait until the last minute and second before doing so
how?
anyway @dev_vps
First of all,
Disable windows .
