  • Can you share yabs

  • HostMayoHostMayo Member, Patron Provider

  • Can you guarantee the io rate?

  • HostMayoHostMayo Member, Patron Provider

    well you can order and test and if doesn't fit your criteria we will refund. The yabs is using a vps on the very same node and should match your vps if ordered with same configs.

  • That's actually a pretty decent deal. And great IO.

    Is this a revolving discount?

  • HostMayoHostMayo Member, Patron Provider

    yes the discount is revolving / recurring.

    Is the discount lifetime? I emailed them to ask if the discount was revolving or a one-time offer, and they told me it was revolving, which is why I placed the order. If the discount isn't valid for life, I think I might request a refund; I want a machine that I can keep renewing indefinitely.

  • I asked a similar question in an email to @HostMayo. It was confirmed there that, yes, this is a revolving/recurring/continuous/etc. discount.

    I, also, am not looking for a machine to add to a BF body count to be discarded when renewal comes. <3

    I got #9493. Too bad I wasn't one later to get #9494. And @HostMayo I'll gladly take any freebies you throw my way, if any. :trollface:

    And I had to go for this offer, even if I didn't need it! The code is robocop and Detroit's Robocop statue was unveiled on Weds this week, after 15 years of local drama! https://www.avclub.com/robocop-statue-detroit-great-job-internet

    I offered to go take a photo of it for @HostMayo in exchange for moar discount, but no bite. I tried! :disappointed:

    Here's a Speedtest and YABS, since some people don't trust providers to provide an accurate YABS (thanks bad people in the low-end past):

    YABS completed in 10 min 40 sec
    ```
    I tested with Geekbench 4 & 5 as I literally didn't do any maintenance to their installed openSUSE template; they only deliver 15.1 (15.6 and 16.0 are current), which has glibc 2.26 and Geekbench 6 requires glibc 2.27. Sadly, that means either a reinstall for GB6 or not-100% comparable numbers (though some claim 6 is less useful/accurate, so maybe a win?).
    The tl;dr is that the performance is respectable. Slightly less than the provider's YABS, but I don't claim malfeasance here: they obviously tested with a larger VPS than I paid for, and it's common for more expensive offerings to perform variously better.
    Honestly, I didn't do much research before buying (again, the Robocop thing amused me and I'm not sure if serendipity or not), but I can't be surprised it's WholeSale Internet, given the location. (Yes, it was in the YABS provided, but that was a screenshot and I Ctrl-F to find things in a YABS, so...) However, it's interesting that the GeoIP seems to be Kentucky.
    @lewellyn thanks for such a detailed response and yabs. Its certianly appreictaed. We can waive your next month fee once you get to visit robocop and share a shot for us with you in the pic 🤗. We love sci fi genre and robocop is the one who hits our nostalgia.
  • I just ordered #9506. The promo code is recurring right?
  • HostMayoHostMayo Member, Patron Provider
    yes the promo code is recurring and still valid.
