Man, 15cm! That's awesome. I would like to take it to that level and higher someday. But, most people with long beards I see on SM use some kind of product or the other to boost growth to get the Viking length. I wanna see if I can naturally grow it to great lengths.
Oh, which year was it?
It's also possible this guy runs a VPN himself and just wants lots of different IPs to cycle between them to balance traffic and also for when certain IPs get blocked.
Yeah, the ones I (used to) buy are all from early 80s, around 1982-1985 was the best era for fun British home PCs. By the late 80s it was all Amiga and ST and by mid 90s, PCs were finally starting to be considered general purpose rather than just office computers.
Yep, that's also possible. Anyway, not really my business. Just a curiosity.
Dude, you'd make a rubbish curtain twitcher. If it happens in our neighbourhood, it's our business.
Do you guys have anything like Neighbourhood Watch in the US? It's great in the UK for keeping nosey grannies busy...
I still have a knockoff NES lying around, the 8-bit one. If I look deep, I would also find some game cartridges. If it does work, wonder if I could hook it up via UART to just find out what's under the hood.
Nope, but, we do have moral policing in some states, smh. These guys really think it's more important to breakup a couple's PDA than maybe stop a robbery
hmm maybe. But i have no idea how things like this work lol
Made it yesterday. I already like it so far!
Hello, I would like to double the bandwidth.

Thanks!
There's no UART on these things, but the hardware is very simple. A custom CPU (more or less a 6502 clone), a custom video chip that does very basic memory-based video output and some sprites, and then a region-specific lockout chip that limits the cartridges to official ones (although you can just swap the ROM chip on the cartridge and it'll just work). The cartridge connector has almost all the signals from the CPU plus a few more, so the ROM is literally just visible in memory and executed from there.
Was just a suggestion. If it works, it;d be great. Or else, check if Revolut works good enough for you, in which case, your issue is solved for the most part.
Made the payment already, the one PP won't let go through?
I'm not actually sure which would be safer to stop!
Oh, I was just curious. But, since mine is a generic knockoff I believe it won't have the region-locking and such. Is there any other option to run serial on one of those things by any chance?
While you're waiting for @dustinc to do the deed, how about stopping for a chat and joining in with all the exciting gossip?
You would be a perfect candidate for the self-appointed moral police here then
JK
I personally would love to see more members here. More members = more hype = more giveaways = me happy = ralf happy = hype squad happy = Someone else keep going. My brain has crashed.
Not really. You'd have to get a UART chip and add it to the cartridge, do all the memory decoding to enable it to appear at a certain memory address, and then program it to do something.
Unless you're talking about a very modern clone which is basically just a software emulation running on some crappy ARM hardware, in which case yes, these normally have UART and JTAG are are quite hackable. But if it has actual cartridges, it's most likely to just be an unofficial copy of the original hardware.
But probably a knock off won't have the lockout chip and so the cartridges won't need one either.
"Tough on crime, lenient on spam" would be my motto
= more money = @dustinc happy
Guess, it's too much headache then. Maybe I should be happy if it just boots.
Yah, this one's from 2003 or so. So, no modern chips or ARM
Nice motto.
Wish we had more people to keep this train going. We could reach page 700 with just that if we had atleast 10 members. I am just kidding. I just love these conversations. I get to learn a lot of stuff.
I've got to get back to work though now, so I'm gonna mostly stop chatting until the end of the work day in about another 8 hours.
