I received a gracious private message from @VeloxMedia and I hope my response to him was equally gracious. I consider things concluded and I believe I learned a few things from it. Thanks to all observers and commenters, whichever side you took -- especially the guy who separately attacked us both! That made it all worthwhile. On to the BF 2026 countdown.
So did anything get anything other than VPS over the weekend?
Most interesting thing I got was a Viofo dash cam which has been on my list for some time to throw away as a Xmas gift. Unfortunately it’ll be the middle of summer and probably 30something degrees when I go to install it, so not looking forward to that.
Otherwise just got the odd clothes items, which isn’t too interesting.
I got myself an antivirus license from Eset at 50% off during Black Friday. That's all I got.
To make myself feel better lets call these Black Friday deals.
I gifted myself a set of new tyres (old tyre disintegrated all on it's own overnight somehow)
and two days later my car's battery gave out on the way to work, by the end of the drive all the electronics were going haywire.
So that put a real damper on what I could participate in this BF

It was actually more nuanced than that at first.
We had a parallel RatNerds (TM) thread to troll the RackNerds official thread, and then we got officially told to behave and so we decamped and moved into the megathread where our trolling was somewhat hidden in the noise. And then it started becoming more of an influence here too.

It was a cheap tyre the mechanic slapped on there when they were due last time. But still, an absolute catastrophic failure.

LUKS with NBDE (Network-Bound Disk Encryption) is a combination that uses LUKS for disk encryption and NBDE for automatic decryption at boot via a trusted network. NBDE uses a service called Tang to provide a network-based key that Clevis uses to unlock LUKS volumes automatically, eliminating the need for manual password entry on servers. This allows for automated booting of encrypted systems in data centers and other environments, while still keeping data encrypted if the system is removed from the secure network.
