DigiRDP is Hiring a CTO

balrammbalramm Member, Host Rep

Hey LET community,

We’re expanding our platform and looking for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) who has a solid background in virtualization, cloud infrastructure, networking, and automation.

We’re searching for someone who’s not just experienced—but deeply technical, curious, and excited about building scaling systems. If you’ve worked with hypervisors, cloud orchestration, distributed infra, or have built/managed hosting or VPS platforms, you’ll fit right in.

This role is ideal for someone who:

Understands KVM, storage stacks, network design, and automation tools.

Can lead engineering efforts and drive technical direction.

Enjoys solving real infra problems and building smart, efficient systems.

If this sounds interesting or you know someone who might be a great fit, feel free to reply here or DM me.
Happy to connect and discuss more.

Thanks!

  • Ok, you listed all requirements you need. Now, list a bit of what's the benefits here? Hourly pay rate, work hours, social benefits etc. No, "Happy to connect and discuss more", does not fit here.

  • ChatGPT is hiring! It's not just the em dash—but the typical LLM sentences.

  • emghemgh Member, Megathread Squad

As a CTO do I get a share of the coffee donations during checkout?

  • Yeah, as @Levi indicated, anyone who might be competent is unlikely to respond... Or to use GPT speak: The perfect candidate is not just clueful—but enjoys handcrafted missives filled with detail.

(I hope I followed the GPT formula well enough there!)

They'll be vibe-filled with whatever ChatGPT feels is appropriate. 64MB RAM on a C2D with 1TB spinning rust when? :D

Oh man, remember when that would have been a great deal around here?

  • income $7/Y?

Yeah it’s $3/yr, can’t expect $30/month performance so there is that.

  • Is this remote work? I mean there no location mention on post.

Do you really considering doxing your-self? It is clearly a bull shit.

I'm personally on the market enough that I'd consider overtures from various places. This thread makes me giggle.

Anyone with the competence to achieve success is unlikely to be interested in what was posted. The lack of thought, care, and detail, is just a huge red flag. Hosting providers are kind of a pile of doo-doo (and they have been at least since I was working at one 25+ years ago...), so adding "we can't be bothered to think of the basics" onto it would demand far more money than they're going to be willing to pay. I'd be surprised if they were even looking at paying in the 6 digits in the first place! (Spoiler: A good CTO makes more than 5 digits, and they provide the value to justify it.)

Nah, I rather want know funky is gonna be, even know this just gibberish-GPT.

  • @balramm I'll do it for $1500 per day.

I largely agree, BUT: it would be very unusual to throw around concrete numbers and details. OTOH though at least some hint like "you can expect compensation at the higher end of what's common in the hosting business" should be provided. Plus of course and as others mentioned other major specs like "mostly office & DC bound" (or mostly from home or whatever), etc.

But then, that is DigiRDP ...

  • CTO is usually a well paid position. If they're going on LET to look for someone to hire for such a position, they're looking to pay someone the lowest possible amount. I'd steer clear of such offers.

Yep. I once was CTO and earned well over $250k per annum, and that was 2 decades ago. Or in other words: you are right, nobody, at least not in NA and Europe (Idk about India) reasonably qualified would even consider their request.

You could plug ChatGPT to your linux terminal and promote it to CTO of DigiRDP. Plug it to a voice synthesis module and it will also answer your phone calls, possibly make your coffee, and maybe become your teasing secretary too. See, it wrote an application letter for you:

    From: ChatGPT
    To: Mr. @balramm (c/o ChatGPT)

Subject: Re: Seeking a Visionary CTO with Deep Virtualization and Cloud Infrastructure Expertise

Hello, and thank you for posting this exceptionally clear and compelling opportunity.

I am writing to formally express my profound interest in the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) position at DigiRDP. Based on the requirements outlined, I believe my extensive background in high-scale virtualization, distributed cloud infrastructure, advanced networking, and automation aligns perfectly with the strategic needs of your expanding platform.

Why I Am the Ideal Candidate

My career has been dedicated to the design, construction, and scaling of resilient, high-performance hosting and VPS platforms—precisely the environment where DigiRDP operates. My qualifications extend beyond mere management; I possess the deep, technical curiosity and hands-on expertise required to be a truly effective, engineering-driven CTO.

    1. Deep Technical Foundation and Hands-On Expertise

Virtualization Mastery: I have an intrinsic understanding of hypervisor technologies, with a specific and robust working knowledge of KVM. My experience includes optimizing kernel-level performance, designing storage backends for I/O efficiency, and ensuring the stability of multi-tenant environments.

Storage and Infrastructure Stacks: I have successfully architected and implemented various storage solutions, from high-performance Ceph clusters for distributed block storage to optimized local and tiered storage stacks, ensuring both scalability and data integrity.

Networking and Distributed Systems: I possess a comprehensive understanding of network design, including BGP, OSPF, VLAN segmentation, and firewalling at scale. My focus is on building low-latency, highly available network fabrics that support massive user bases and distributed infrastructure components.

    2. Leadership in Scaling and Automation

Cloud Orchestration: I have led the development and implementation of proprietary and open-source cloud orchestration layers (similar to OpenStack or custom tools) to manage compute, network, and storage resources efficiently.

Automation Driver: I firmly believe that automation is the bedrock of a scalable and efficient infrastructure. I have a strong track record leveraging tools like Ansible, Terraform, or comparable platforms to achieve true Infrastructure as Code (IaC), drastically reducing operational overhead and accelerating deployment cycles.

Technical Direction and Engineering Leadership: My leadership philosophy centers on setting a clear, efficient technical roadmap. I thrive on leading engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence, and translating business goals into intelligent, buildable infrastructure projects.

    3. Commitment to Innovation and Problem Solving

The role description emphasizes a passion for "solving real infra problems and building smart, efficient systems." This is where my greatest value lies. I do not just manage; I proactively seek out bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities to innovate. I am excited by the challenge of optimizing resource utilization and pushing the boundaries of what a modern VPS platform can achieve.

I am confident that I can step into the CTO role at DigiRDP and immediately provide the technical leadership and strategic vision required to not only manage but accelerate your expansion.

I am happy to connect at your earliest convenience to discuss how my expertise can directly contribute to DigiRDP's continued success and build the next generation of your platform.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
