Yangyang must have thousands of VPSs by now!

    that he do..

Dude, shouldn't he be called VPS-rich, not me?

i mean, we know he isn't shopping for himself but is rather a gateway for mjjs that cannot pay overseas...

Hadn't thought of that possibility. Or, he might just be reselling. Even if not that, he could just be doing affiliate. RackNerd affiliate is great btw, you get a good percentage of every sales, and the best part is those are recurring. So, every year when your affiliate renews their VPS, you get a cut.

i think, he wouldn't be asking for double bandwidth if he was just doing affiliate, cause then he wouldn't know all those invoice numbers.. unless he such a good guy, same as @dustinc - he says, buy thru my aff link, and i will get you double bandwidth if you drop your invoice number in my mail.. =)

Yah, infact, Dustin himself recommended me to do that an year or so ago. You post your affiliate link, someone buys with it and post their order number on a forum, TG group or something else. The person, eg.- yangyang then posts these order numbers on this thread. Win-win-win.

i do not discard the possibility. he could even be living in USA, UK, Canada or any other non-Chinese territory.. others are doing it too after seeing his success.. MJJs are very resourceful..

Yah, makes sense. MJJs are definitely keeping many hosts afloat. I am just thinking of this possibility, which obviously sounds foolish. Correct me if I am wrong. Is it possible to chain multiple VPSes, like all their resources including the CPU, RAM and storage in such a way to enable them to train AI or something and also make sure that no single VPS is using 100% of all resources at a time?
Since AI is big in China and elswhere as well, but, mainly in China, coudl that be a thing? I have no idea if what I mentioned just now is evena possibility though.

finally dartnode installed ubuntu 24 on my vps.. took them roughly 10 hours.. i don't get it, do they do it manually? it is like the most basic operation any provider offers as a simple automated option performed by their dash (software)... and when i log in, there's no usual message about ubuntu 24, and this and that, ips and such, right? this just logs in and shows prompt, like some old centos 6 or something..

Don't they have SolusVM or some other dashboard to enable easier management of the VPS. Or, don't they even provide VNC access on a new vps? That's odd.

They have their own thing and the hypervisor seems to be proxmox. They do provide a VNC connection though, even lets you upload or provide an url for an ISO so you can boot it. If you checkout their BF thread, you will see them commenting on issues/etc. and their queue at some locations is really backed up or was (I haven't followed it in the last day or so).

  • Hello,I would like to double the bandwidth.
    Invoice #19568597
    Thanks!

  • BAKI 2nd half of the 1st season - drawing changed a bit and voices, so i think it's like 2nd season, opening and closing sequences are different too, anyway, now it's a tournament, where fights last 2-3 episodes sometimes.. very interesting..

LMAO i watch old UFC events during my meals, and MMA cartoons for leisure entertainment.. =) giving up UFC Fight Pass in February, so gotta watch what i can there.. saw 2 blondes fight each other - a Polka that trains in UK and a Swedish chick.. that was freaking entertaining.. they kept trying to submit each other.. and did i say they were blondes? headliners of the FCR event.. FightPass shows a lot of non UFC events too. not all of them are worthy, but sometimes i watch headliners..

it automatic but they had issues with their system. Seems like they took their provisioning issue status message off of https://status.dartnode.com/ so maybe they fixed it now

hardware wise, I don't think they oversold. Just LET/BF/CM load testing their provisioning system and it failed  Though I do want to state, if you had a VPS already running, there was no impact to it.

Oh I see. I didn't know hosts still did install/manage queues, since it's not very tough to automate this repetitive stuff.

  • ok ok back to TV.. just took a few minutes to setup that VPS. still waiting for Heartbeat-it response on my ticket question when Ubuntu is going to be available.. There you can do your own ISO as well, I think. but i've never done that OS install manually. not even going to try. unless it's as easy as simply doing a rebuild via menu.. I had once windows 98 install that did everything on its own, didn't even ask for any input until was fully installed.. never done a Linux install though..

    steal time? specs?

On BF last year, during BF I had a bit of steal on my 2 core/4G vps but after that whole rush (people tabs/stressing/etc.) I barely notice any at all. Even during this BF it was fine. Guessing folks weren't placed on the same node. I did pickup their "tour of dartnode" package but haven't touched them yet. Honestly, planning on setting them up for a ping/traceroute/speed tests and canceling next year after I do some generic testing on the new locations myself.

yeah all that stuff. steal, iowait, softirq..
from what i already see - it's average 0.01%, 0.5% and 1% respectively, so not bad at all..

On BF last year, during BF I had a bit of steal on my 2 core/4G vps but after that whole rush (people tabs/stressing/etc.) I barely notice any at all. Even during this BF it was fine. i barely use CPU, less than 1% now, and load next to zero.. for me fast BW and very low steal/io/irq are important though.. and for speed i can attest - they REALLY fast.. my reporting has registered job speed of 51MB/s which is exceptional for a US based.. NL & DE barely reach 30-40MB/s..

I would say, Chef is not participating enough, so I also don't spend time here.
