Could you please take a moment to check my support ticket #ZZA-089054? I understand you are very busy, but I’m a bit worried that my urgent and legitimate request might be overlooked.
Thank you very much for your time and support.

    Hi.

What’s going on with the server de5.rarecloud.io?
The VPS on it has been unavailable for more than 30 hours.
For the open ticket #FNR-258530 the only update over a day ago was: “Let me check this and will let you know details soon.”

It has been 5 days and the server is still unavailable. Technical support, in ticket #FNR-258530, replied 2 days ago with “NVMe drive failed, but it has been replaced, and the RAID rebuild is currently in progress. The server should be back online soon. We are unable to provide an exact ETA at the moment and sincerely apologize for this.

At the moment, both the Tokyo and Germany locations are unavailable” and there have been no updates since.
No suggestions for possible solutions—just “sorry, please wait.”

Presumably, just de5.rarecloud.io? de11 seems unaffected.

But Reverse DNS is not working for their 31.57.54.0/24 subnet.

Absolutely not. They might have a lot of sales, also tickets with various requests. As it was mentioned before, the provider said that every ticket will get answered.

Also, these days they should have some server migrations in Germany, not sure about other locations.

Yes, got an email that the VPS in Germany will be migrated (after it has only been set up on Monday), with a new IP address.

I guess what would have been useful would have been to mention about the IP address change when they provided the VPS on Monday, or just wait with the VPS set up for another 2 days (it was 2 days late anyway).

As they had actually provided the VPS on Monday, I was then actually assuming that the plan would be a seamless migration, keeping the same IP address.

Doesn't really sound like anyone has thought this through...

  • de3 has been down for a full day. Support keeps giving the same answer to everyone:
"Germany location is currently experiencing an issue. An NVMe drive failed, but it has already been replaced, and the RAID rebuild is in progress. The server should be back online soon."

When I asked whether it was possible to temporarily create a server in Romania and then switch back to Germany (if it comes back online), they told me that the only option is to delete the server in Germany and then move to Romania.

After I asked why they can’t just create an additional temporary server, support simply disappeared.

  • Sorry, but "82% Recurring" in the title of this offer clearly states the expected downtime - you can't complain unless the VPS has been offline for more than 10 months in a year.

And remember: each week of downtime gets you a separate entry into the exclusive Black Friday raffle. Make sure to comment with each downtime separately. More downtime = more entries = higher chances of winning!

  • Just wondering… has anyone gotten a ticket reply from RareCloud in the last couple of days? I’m starting to feel a bit unsure, not sure if something’s up on their side. Maybe it’s just me being paranoid, but I’d love to know if support is still running fine.> @cold said:

I have received an answer for my ticket. They seemed polite and helpful enough.
I assume they are just overloaded with work due to a couple migrations and a lot of new customers all at the same time.

  • Luckily, I didn't purchase. Their backup policy held me back: "RareCloud will not be liable for any data loss, whether caused by hardware failure, user error, or any other circumstance."
And from what you're writing, it seems like that's not the only drawback. Maybe they've sold so much that they're now swamped with work and can't respond to everyone quickly.
But for my services, a quick response and a minimum of backups (I also do mine on other storages, obviously) are essential.
I wish them the best because they offer great plans at very competitive prices. I would have liked to try the German location with the new nodes they're supposed to activate, but if you're experiencing slow responses, days of downtime, or services not delivered quickly, they're not for me right now.
I hope it improves and we can do business in the future.
