Afaik, hostbrr doesn't allow that. But I could always ask in a ticket :)

While crypto would be an alternative, not all hostings accept it. I mainly want a solution where I can pay like almost everywhere

Oh I see, then, I guess your best bet would be to get a legally valid virtual credit card. Have you already contacted your bank regarding this? Maybe they do have a provision to give you pre-paid virtual credit cards, if physical credit cards aren't an option.

And, please be careful. I am sure you already know this, but, just to be safe, I am gonna put it in words. DO not get those sketchy virtual credit cards from shady websites.

    Of course xD
I want to get it from like a bank or something. Like revolut.
And yeah, maybe my bank does offer visa cards, but afaik, it's not fully rolled out.

Approach your bank first. Revolut and others should be the backup options if the bank one doesn't pan out. Wish you luck.

Ooh €2 is a lot imo

Yah, seems unjust for a 3 euro transaction.

They just might. Banks here usually keep this mostly unavailable to the public unless a customer requests for it specifically. Also, if they don't have VCC, ask them if they have pre-paid payment cards that will work internationally. Or, just tell them your purpose and see if they can recommend a way out.

  • @noob404 said: Also, if they don't have VCC, ask them if they have pre-paid payment cards

All cards they offer are debit cards

  • But I also need my current card to keep working, as Visa is not supported at most stores in the Netherlands.
My little brothers card expired and his new card is a visa card. I hope it still supports vpay tho. Otherwise he might have a problem with paying in stores here. (tho he does not buy stuff often)

Maybe then apply for an international debit card or maybe ask them to enable international transactions on your current card.

It seems like payment tech advancing has made payments tougher, instead of easier

  • @noob404 said: maybe ask them to enable international transactions on your current card.

I think it's already enabled? (gotta check), but since it's a vpay card, i can't use it to pay online. (Except if it's a store from the Netherlands, which usually accept payments via iDeal (official online payment method in the Netherlands))

Man, that's very restrictive for a country like Netherlands. Or, is it usually common in EU?

Well the system is nice, but sometimes also very restricting.
VPay/Maestro are slowly being phased out and we are slowly switching to visa debit cards.
Tho not all stores have made te switch, like the one I work at.

My bank is slowly switching to visa, and when my current card expires, it should be replaced with a visa one. Tho my card expires somewhere in 2027 xD

  • I gotta do a bit more research before requesting a visa card at my bank.
Unless both cards can be used/active at the same time. That would be nice!

I believe they would issue you a separate Visa card happy while keeping your VPay active. Just be clear to them about the purpose of the VISA.
