But, imo, the deals on RackNerd BF page are still good as well. Or, were you looking for a specific location or something?

upgrades, beeing there for the party
won 1 server and i gave me friend (dont need more, else would just buy one)

also mainly megathread... there are few providers i want to try and few services that rn does not offer (hdd, spicy locations or simly 1€/y deals)

rn is great, just i dont keep all my eggs in 1 basket (this includes any other provider and my home servers)

during christmas might finally make a blog/page that will include provider rewievs...

That would be cool. What I like about RN is that's it's pretty stable and support is fast. Got services with maybe 30 providers or so though.

Sorry to cut in, I can concur that as well. My fastest response time on their ticket was less than 3 minutes with 100% resolution. The same would have taken several huge names a day or more.

Yeah, wonder how big their team is.

No idea. But, yes, both their live chat and ticketing system are fast to respond.

Never used chat but tickets are fast. So are DMs to Dustin. I do some support a couple of hours a week myself not to loose the magic touch and I'm well impressed.

Yah, their whole team across are pretty responsive. That's what amazed me the most. Hosts I used the big ones, rhye charge you much more than RN yet take a day at minimum to reply and then takes a few more days to actually resolve an issue

I understand. There was 1 resource upgrade giveaway(512mb) this time. Moreover, the recent RAM inflation does make it extremely tough. But, Dustin did say they were able to source some good amount of RAM this time iirc.
Anyways, I will tag you in if there's a resource upgrade giveaway, if that's something you'd like.

I'd settle for a small 512 ram in a nice location.

Yup, 512 mb ram is great if you also couple it with something lightweight like Alpine. I also learned about Alpine's greatness thanks to the wonderfulm members of the yesteryear's BF thread

Yes, I like running static sites marketing purpose. These small ones are perfect for smaller projects. Especially when you put it behind a cdn.

For bigger projects, won't cut it obviously.

I have to try this as well. Some clients might have websites that don't actually need 1GB RAM

Just make sure it's easy to scale or migrate when resources run low.

Still waiting for paypal to review my info

hehe.. paypal reviewed my info back in 2009. haven't had a proper working paypal in my name since

They once closed my business account. Was a mess to get it reinstated again.

i was getting donations from a site they didn't approve.. then i made an account in my mother-in-law name and hooked it up to ejunkie and was getting donations via ejunkie, so that account actually still working for me to pay for stuff i cannot pay with a simple credit card, otherwise i just use that option where you don't need to login to pay for something.

I've heard of many people/businesses having many issues with PayPal. Luckily, I haven't had any (yet). I actually only have it for the random orders/payments I do as I much rather use PayPal instead of my actual card details.

@noob404 oh by the way did you win any racknerd credits?

Over the years, a lot bro cause I, not being from the US opt for credits when shipping or bringing the physical item isn't an option

To bad innit? Might try to convince him. First one shipped to the EU, that would be cool B)

Yah, but, I believe it'd be so unfair for him cause depending on the location of various winners, he will have to spend a small fortune on shipping which seems too much to ask for, given the items themselves are already expensive (by my standards)

Guess you're right. Not sure about costs but yeah, not making sense shipping a mug for a whole lot of money.

A cup might actually cut it with Indian customs. It's usually the bigger items that sometimes get slapped with 100% of their price as customs duty by Indian customs.

Might be right. Haven't sent much cross continent past few years. Not sure.

Guess it depends on what they want but hope they have fairly new infrastructure/equipment and not a bunch of legacy stuff.

Oh yes. This though is a client who doesn't currently have an online presence at all.

Good, always will be an improvement then.

i'm using LINK now (link.com), i think you can hook up your bank account there now too. check it out.. it's accepted by MANY hosting providers and in general. I think it is done by STRIPE - the leader in online payments.
