    sometimes i wonder why i just won't stick to existing and proven providers like RackNerd..

    bought me a VPS in germany by this italian provider i've never seen before. so far haven't gone into any of my purchases cause saving it for tomorrow maybe when BFCM is over, maybe for today .. anyways connecting to their panel - cannot do it, connecting to VPS - cannot do it... ended up reaching out to the provider via LET message. he says - send screen.. turns out my CGNAT was probably causing it somehow or something on their end, anyways i could connect from my DE server though and via VPN to their dashboard. then he replaced IP for my VPS - i was then able to login from home IP, later he reached out saying something changed and i was then able to login to panel without VPN.

    but for a few heavy minutes i was thinking - did i get scammed? LOL.. he also was asking for social security number or drivers license number for their billing records, which i gave license, nobody ever asks for it anywhere, so can't really impersonate me with that, social security though is very important and that i didn't give...

    well, that's what happened...

    Yup. He did a lot of double bandwidth requests today, much more than he ever did in a single sweep. Its impressive infact.

    was quite backed up tho. check the charts - his was rather flat for a few days during Chef's arrival and such.. finally got back to doubling it. and there were A LOT of requests..

    Start? Oh you mean the reseller hosting. With the credits available right now, yes. I could start and host it for atleast 5-6 years maybe (unless I get more orders from clients and friends).
    But, right now, I got too much on my plate and that's why the hosting business is getting delayed a bit.

    Makes sense, btw how much credit you have to be enough for hosting for 5-6 years? XD

    I am just gonna say I had more than $1000 in RackNerd credits at some point because I converted almost 3 of my wins (1x RackNerd BF thread + 2x Xmas threads) over the years.
    Fortunately, I have friends in need of VPSes and dedis. So, most of that credit has been used or is spoken for.

    It definitely is. I hope you win a few credits as well, dude. Right now, I can see you are in the 19th position. But, if you can be a bit more active, I am sure you can land up in top 6 and get the prize converted to credits if it isn't already credits.
    Also, keep your eyes peeled cause post this, there should also be the Xmas threads (hope there's is, that's RackNerd tradition). You can be active there as well and win some credits. Moreover, I hope you have already participated in the RackNerd Thanksgiving and Xmas Gleam giveaways.

    Good decision. Remember showing face will also require room and your gear aesthetics to be perfect - lighting, good camer, good mic, etc.
    BTW, for the mic will you be using any processing software for denoising and stuff?

    well, that's what happened...

    I am uncomfortable even sharing my phone number online to some random platform. Ssn would be a big no no. And yes, CGNAT issues are well known. Even I faced them, cause my ISP uses that.
    A few years ago, I had a few VPSes with other providers which I could connect to only with a Vpn due to my ISP's double CGNAT config or something

    Iirc, the last year's Xmas threads started within hours of the winners of the social butterfly contest on BF being announced.

    And yes, the social.butterfly contest lasta for almost a similar period like BF. but, again, iirc, there is no lottery on the thread, only social butterfly. That's how Xmas threads has been, but, RackNerd's switching up a lot of things this year. Who knows!
