  • I now have the $99/month ryzen in my cart. But I have no actual use for it! But it's such a good deal!

I was just in second place, but after thinking about it, I didn't make the purchase because I'm more looking forward to the $99 standalone server.

I'm going to let it go. It's just too rich for a hobby server, especially since I have a nice home server (5950x 64gb ram) to use for heavier projects.

If you splice it up into 32 virtual machines, they'd each have 6gb ram, 64gb nvme, and cost $3.10/month or $37.31/year.

If it's worth it to have 32 machines with those specs (and only a single ipv4 amongst them all), then go for it! Otherwise, you'd need to have something very power hungry to really utilize that thing.

There was once a time that I would have done that, just to give regulars here some great deals. But the day LET started requiring providers to pay a subscription fee to advertise here, they eliminated any possibility of insane deals from the little guy.

Also, if you instead tried cpu mining, best I can find is XMR with a revenue of $0.91/day, or $27.30/month with no electricity costs. That's assuming DartNode doesn't mind you mining (I don't see why they'd have an issue with a dedicated server).

Not worth it to go that route either.

One of the servers I've been idling all year is a 7950X3D 128GB from Fiberstate.

I got the 9950X 192GB from Dartnode and it'll probably end up replacing the 7950X3D since better CPU and more ram will idle better.
