Kimsufi Ks5 very slow upload to Singapore

https://eco.ovhcloud.com/en/kimsufi/ks-5/

50kb/s on sftp at this rate I'll be able to restore my backup to the server after paying for 12months for a good as useless brick.

even on ftp without encryption it was slow as a snail

not sure what is going on there but not worth it going with one of those remote (for me europe) asia servers

tried a reinstall on the os, its purely a network issue, the server itself could download faster but uploading to it seems capped per file around that speed?

KS-5 is upload is capped at 300mb so if you are uploading from a country far away from SG the speed is going to drop a lot.

If you are in europe why not buy a KS-5 in GRA or OVH europe locations, you get better latency as well.

  • yes 300mbit .. shouldn't be a ~50kb/s upload speed to it, I've cancelled it now. It was the only server location available when I checked but I've got servers further away and never had that kind of speed reduction, seemed liked a deliberate network limit as I was able to initiate other uploads but they'd all get capped around that speed when uploading.
