Well, I might have to force my doggo to go out like 30 minutes before chef will be here so she won't interupt things. Unless she's sleeping, if she's sleeping, I can't wake her up. It's too cute and being woken up is rude

So, what have you guys decided? Will she be joining the party or are you going to put her to sleep?

last 4 have a negative connotation thou

Depends on how you take it "thou"!
It is used for both gently helping a baby sleep or forcing them to sleep with medicines.
Me and @PuDLeZ being dog parents do understand that I meant the former. Isn't that right, Pud? If not, pardon me. I meant the former.

BTW, "thou" is the archaic form of "you." Maybe add those missing "gh"

i've put a cat to sleep, my sister is counting the last days of her dog before putting him to sleep

i will try not to try and learn you anymore, although, pardon my PC

This was all in fun.
Just giving you an English lesson when you gave me one, that's all, pulling each other's legs and nothing more.
But, defo, thanks for that. I didn't know that phrase had such a bad connotation as well, attached to it. Will have to find a better replacement phrase for that activity, something with no hidden negative connotations.

If you want to describe giving meds or other help so an animal can fall asleep, then perhaps just "helping them fall asleep". Or really any word other than "put" or "putting", as that phrasing is used often enough that many will initially think of the bad connotations, even if it is immediately understood from context that you don't mean it that way.

let the dog nap, nothing more, nothing less.

@noob404 i wasn't teaching you anything. just mentioned something so next time you knew. that's all. it was quite clear to me you didn't mean anything negative.

Yes, I totally get your point. It's the internet and sometimes, messages do come off as being defensive. I am sorry if my message came off like that. I usually add the  emoji to mean I am just being unserious (I know that's not a word ), or that I am just pulling your leg. But, sometimes I miss that as well.
No hard feelings at all there. And, thanks for that as well. I learned something today, and prolly that saved me landing in an awkward convo with someone for something I didn't mean. Anyways, let us change the topic to the man of the hour - THE CHEF.

    Thanks for that. TIL !

Yeah, I personally took it as a "english not first language" thing but they are correct. Though if I was actually going through that, no way would I be on here.

Let's quickly change the subject, shall we, cause that's still a touchy subject for me. Onto happier subjects maybe.

Yeah, let's please do the needful!
I worked with folks a lot where English isn't the first language so it's not the first time and I doubt it will be the last. Please don't feel bad.
