most of those cheap sellers technically don't give you legal keys (stolen, violates terms, etc). I mean, it's fine for home users/non business but I always tell folks they should just use MAS instead and save the few $.

they buy mass license and sell it 1 by 1.. it's quite legit, i bought such for win 10 some time ago. i mean, it works, that's what legit. you can buy that on groupon sometimes, i don't think they'd allow stolen licenses there.

double check those licensing terms with microsoft. Yes, they're "legit" in the sense that they will activate but... I guess it really depends on where you live/the laws there

Yes, it will activate but it goes against the terms in most places so it's technically not legal. I get, some folks want to spend a little $ on it since it makes them feel better but I personally think if it's not legal, why waste the money... Though either way one will go, I highly doubt microsoft will go after a home user. It's just "businesses" that have to worry

it's not illegal to buy such a key. it maybe unconscientious to use it. i am sure with enough desire, MS could simply turn off updates for me and put that line saying windows is not authentic. they didn't. it is not much different from j walking. you know it's technically not a nice thing to do, you can even get slapped with a fine, but you still do it, from time to time. and i don't mean you personally.
