Woot, my OEM/original N64 controller mod (new joystick/board for bluetooth/rumblepack+rechargeable battery) is out for delivery! I should end up installing it either tonight or tomorrow. Assuming I have the proper bit (I have a lot of standard bits and even some special ones like for nes & snes carts)

Brings me to the question - why no megathread this year? Any ideas? I haven't been looking a lot at other threads, but, the threads I checked as well, there's no talk of the megathread.
Oh yah, FAT used to mention how big of a toll these threads took on his personal life with organising and managing. Props to him having managed it these past years. Couldn't have been easy at all.

This is that 8bitdo modkit, it's designed to reuse parts of the OEM/original controller. Forget if it was you or someone else in this thread I told but I need a new joystick for one of my controllers. I ordered the modkit since the joystick will work with the original board but the kit also comes with everything to make it wireless. So if I dislike the lag or whatever with the wireless, I can always revert back to wired. It will be nice to have the new 8bitdo N64 wireless controller, a modded oem controller, and a few original wired oem controllers!
Yah, it was me who you discussed the joystick replacement about. We also went into the whole hall effect situation. Would latency be a huge issue given 8bitdo is fairly modern and that the console you plan to use the controller on is also modern?
Oh yeah, major props for him doing it the previous years and stepping down because of the toll/personal decisions. Don't get me wrong, I would love if he continued but I personally want him to stick to his post about not doing them as it will be better for him/others around him. I always say life afk is more important!
No clue with the modkit but that's part of the reason why I got it since I can revert back to wired if it's bad. Though the few games I played/tried with the new 8bitdo one (designed like a more modern controller), it wasn't noticable, at least on the 3d. I can only assume that the modkit will be similar. Now with those bluetooth adapters for the classic consoles, I can notice a bit of latency/input lag. At least when I tried them on the snes I totally noticed it.
True words. Life is more important, no doubt. And yes, I respect his decision and hin sticking to it, as you rightly mentioned. With the kind of traffic the thread gets, it would have been a nightmare to manage it all alone.
Oh I was under the assumption that latency was no longer a concern with these consoles and controllers
