Korea VPS with a direct route to China

I'm currently using AWS Lightsail, but the route is through NTT so there's 17 hops from China and ~90 ms latency

I'd like something with a similar cost of $5 a month, but with good routing to China Unicom. I guess it could still route through Japan, but fewer hops and lower latency. For me the latency is the primary concern.

    aws does not always have the best routing.
    Some providers for example in Frankfurt have better routing.

    South Korean local ISPs does seem to have better routing to China. However, you will have a hard time purchasing one without a South Korean issued payment method.

    South Korea is perhaps the only country in the world where bandwidth costs are going up. This may be driven by new regulations from the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, which mandate the commercial terms of domestic interconnection, based on predetermined “Tiers” of participating networks. This is contrary to the model in most parts of the world, where networks self-regulate, and often peer without settlement. The government even prescribes the rate at which prices should decrease per year (-7.5%), which is significantly slower than the annual drop in unit bandwidth costs elsewhere in the world. We are only able to peer 2% of our traffic in South Korea.

    China Mainland may be the most expensive bandwidth.

    I see many websites hosted there have just 1mbps or 3mbps.

    Neither of them is directly connected, but when I checked, Dotname Korea seemed to have good ping.

    I have some customers on china mainland and i use softbank provider with 40 or less (20) ping fron japan

    I tried to sign up for dotname, but it bugs out when logging in, just really unpleasant to use website

    I can't even sign up for cafe 24 without a Korean phone number, even though I'm using the foreigner page (also you can't use special characters in your password, wtf?)

    lightsail started routing China connections through Singapore so I had to get rid of it and I bought one at vpc.kr and I'm happy with the latency and connection quality
