    If you have goodwill/thrift stores (all depends on the location) or re-use/e-recycle places around you, I recommend checking them out unless you want something new/specific. They have decent monitors a lot for dirt cheap.

    Do you have a microcenter around you? They do have great deals as well on new, open boxes, and close outs. They also have a great return policy on all of them. Also good to keep an eye on Best Buy for their random specials/deals they have if you're not in a rush. I actually got two Samsung 4k gaming monitors several years ago for like $200 each!

    $200 feels steep for my need right now
    but yes, Microcenter used to be my goto for years back in 2005-2015. now i am 5mins from BB so probably can check than on BF for sure. MC is a bit of a drive, highway but thru downtown, so always stupid traffic.. after spending half my life driving cars thru traffic for living, I will go to GREAT LENGTHS to avoid traffic, even if it's a few minutes extra.. seriously... lost so many years of my life being stuck in traffic. Chicago is one of the worst... and don't let it rain or snow - OMG people simply forget they've been driving their cars for years how bad it becomes. maybe it's my fault for having winter tires on and AWD - making me too self confident in cold weather.. hehe remember my uber passengers sometimes freaking out when i'd leave "everyone's" lanes and just push it thru the snowed in lane on a multi-lane road..

    i don't know.. should i wait till the actual BF to buy monitor? haven't done deal hunting in years, so i can't recall if some stores still dish out even bigger discounts on the day of BF/CM after advertising and selling stuff with BF discounts for weeks in advance?

    I mean, unless there's currently a deal on one you actually want, it won't really hurt to wait for BF/CM

    made myself a snack - big bowl of Mediterranean-like salad with long seedles cucumber and 4 tomatoes and some onion+garlick, and a dash of EVOO. nearly zero calories, but fills you up right..

    :lol: If was developing a headache from something broken, I'd probably replace it sooner rather than later unless I could use something else (like a TV). Of course, unless it's like a second monitor since you can still use the machine and just turn off the broken one.

    yeah i have 2 others and TV but TV is to the side, so it's not usable really for browsing or chatting, i just watch movies and such on it, from PC if i have to.. TV itself doesn't play everything, like if it's more than 5.1 - no audio then.. it's just 1 monitor here is vertical doing special work monitoring some stuff i need to always keep an eye on. and no other can become vertical. and the other one is 1080p, and old, so to see proper colors it has to be tilted back a great deal.. eeeh...

    i have my 2 mobiles (1 full of crypto only stays home) and wife's and my sister's husband on a 4 person Google Fi plan for $100, plus taxes makes $34 per person, so today was the time i asked sister to pay for her husband's phone and she does for the whole year, so nearly $400, which I then pay for the phone month by month from my account.. so i could just consider spending all $400 now on 2 x gaming (adjacent) monitors of nice quality and then pretend i bought them on a 12 month plan and they are costing me that $34 a month.. LOL.. as they say, i hate to spend a lot on anything...

    gemini in my phone chat, as opposed to google search AI, didn't cower and gave me good layout of pricing and reasons for waiting and all kinds of suggestions.. google search ai says this is bad topic it won't talk about.. weird.. anyway going to try and hunt down something in the range of 27-34" QHD 1440p @ 120-200Hz

    thought about 275 series curved at 240Hz (vs 180Hz of 274) but it says that most likely on my geforce 2060 i won't be able to pull off 240Hz anyway.. 180 is more realistic, although not exactly easily achievable..
