@dustinc Can we really not clone an existing VPS to a new service? That's very disappointing after being a customer for over 5 years with 7 live services.

    (Ticket ID NP46576)

As far as I know that's the limitations of solusvm v1 and since RackNerd's entire VPS nodes are running on solusvm the live migration isn't something done with one click, the support has to manually migrate the data and cross check everything which isn't the part of unmanaged offerings if it was managed sure support will do that for you. And migrating services by yourself isn't that hard if you know what you are doing with servers.

They did do it for me one time after I had issues on a node. They quickly migrated everything to a new node upon request, but, yes, it was manually done by them.

Having "issues" they do go above and beyond for stability, love them for that <3

@bchot Hey dude, as days go by that 4060ti looks more and more attractive. I might just make my play for the PC after all, it seems. Else, I am happy to get the Ally and maybe try to run some AI tasks on it. Anyways, there is almost a month for the rankings to change significantly. Bring your best game. Best of luck.

he was crowned the king yesterday, so I don't know about his intents at the moment. So yeah we will see a nice match.

  • omg my screen is even more unusable now than before.. fun times... gonna go look for something cheap somewhere shady...

Yup, they tried their best to fix it on the node and when nothing fixed it for me, they just offered to move it to new node. But, I only recently learned that my ISP's weird shit might have caused that as well.

Ofcourse, I do see a worthy competitor in bchot, and I hope he also participates in the NY thread. Fortunately for him and unfortunately, for me, I 100% won't be participating in the NY thread if it happens. Next year, I have some strict resolutions to follow.

My monitor is slwoly getting there. At about 20 vertical lines right now. Difficult to code, but, I am used to such monitors. As for you, I think this would be the perfect time to get a monitor.

  • all i need now is the pain and suffering of finding something i like online.. i literally break with sweat after 10-15 minutes of shopping. honestly, a month of posting here to win the gaming rig for me is easier than finding and buying a monitor online ...

anyone knows any good deals that are available already? probably gonna trash this stupid screen and simply wait 1 week for BF to get the most discounts..

mine do a stupid funny flickering from bottom when it is cold. So I just wait to let it heat a llittle, or just I change the refresh rate.
So try the refresh rate, it might help.

No clue which distro you're using but if it's some *nix one, boot a livecd, mount partitions, and do something like

    tar -cJpvf myFullBackup.tar.xz --xattrs --numeric-owner -C /mnt/gentoo .

then on the other system, boot a livecd and extract

    tar xvJpf myFullBackup.tar.xz --xattrs-include='*.*' --numeric-owner

After that, you may need to chroot in and install grub or whatever (all depending on your setup) but then you should be good to go! There are some directories you can exclude in the backup but I left the command easier/generic.

If you have a second disk/drive, you can also just use dd if you want but that will take longer time and more storage (even if you compress it like you should).

Nope, I said very clearly in NY thread, I wasn't going for the gaming laptop and I didn't. I have been clear about it. This year, I was expecting an old 2080Ti from a cousin by the year end. But, he backed out and I really had some plans to get into AI workflows with it, atleast some basic stuff. Now, my only option is to go for the 4060Ti. But, anyways, I am still not sure if I can work like I am right now past Dec 1 as well, which is when bchot would have the best chances to snatch it outta my hands.

I am just gonna try my best to make a play, but, given the pace you are going at, you can overtake me esp. after Dec 1. So, do not let your guard down.

i couldn't wait no more yesterday and cooked up my own offering.. mostly zucchini.. =)

Happy to see people still have vegetables. I remember you mentioning broccoli a few days ago or yesterday. I think it's become very common, esp. in Western countries where the younger generation is totally skipping veggies in their food and that's a dangerous trend, tbh.

i eat vegetable stews every day mostly because i can eat of that as much as can fir in my belly.. yesterday it was 1kg of zucchini with some onions and garlic.. and half an iceberg lettuce + half chicken breast for the starter salad. with just a few CHEETOS.. i got to have some umami flavor with my blandest of foods. i get chicken already cooked, so i pick one without salt, cause half of it goes to cats, and they don't need that much salt in their diets..

I do feel guilty though. I really would have loved the Ally, cause I was hoping to get the 2080Ti. Now, I don't have another option. I am just gonna try my best, but, bchot is capable of winning it, if he puts his mind to it.

My mouth watered a little. But, is that combo really healthy on top of Cheetos. No judgement here, though. If it was upto me, I'd have added Lays and a Sprite to it as well.

I'll probably still do it unless your post is like right before mine. In a sense, it's a reminder for myself to do or I just remembered and did it :joy: I'm usually bad with remembering the daily bonuses!

same here.. i actually have a daily alarm on my phone to remind to check one online store for restocking.. they do it once a week on a good month, or once a month sometimes.. well, that 1 product i want/need.. so i have that alarm telling me - go do it.. monday thru friday. none on weekends..

my spine is fine. knock on wood. it's the muscles.. having started excercising and working out late in my life, i constantly get all kinds of muscle stretches and spasms, i do put up a very hard workout when in full potential, i do 2-3hrs of very intense HIIT, which in turn sometimes hits me back with muscle aches.. the worst so far is the intercostal muscle sprain i've had 2-3 times, that hurts like a motherfucker... feels like a freaking heart attack, if i knew what a heart attack felt like.. no joke for sure. goes away after few days though.. this neck problem been going on for like close to a week now.. very unpleasant too, at least i can move around with it.

That's bad. Yes, I have heard of intercostal muscle sprain as well. My friend used to work at a hospital where he said, people would come with this pain thinking they were having a heart attack. Some of them despite assurance from the doctors would still get an ECG/EKG (Ig, it's EKG in US) done to be a 100% sure. Maybe ease up on the exercise? When you say intense, do you mean like intense cardio or like intense intense (calisthenics ans such)?

Yeah, it's not ideal for cloning a VPS but it works! I actually still had the commands in history since I built a new Gentoo system like a week or so ago. I used a different distro to take the stage3 to setup everything and even redid the stage1 and stage2 stuff. This backup enabled me to boot off USB, partition/etc, extract, and then basically just do grub before rebooting. Was nice only being booted off USB for like 15 minutes (probably less but I didn't time it, just a lot faster is I had to start from the official stage3 after booting off USB)
