Unless you get a great deal on one you absolutely want (like how I was with the Thinkpad model), I recommend not buying one until after Google reveils more details on how they're merging ChromeOS and Android or rather putting chromeos on android. I've had this Chromebook for a couple years now and while they guarantee updates until 2032, that doesn't mean I will get the newly merged os.
Though I mainly got the Chromebook so when I'm on-call with work and I leave the house, I can throw it in a backpack/my vehicle and not be worried about it breaking or getting stolen.

dedicated servers are overrated IMHO.. i recently replaced one from Kimsufi (got it 2020) with a 4core VPS and - surprise-surprise - it performs better, has lesser load than the server used to. and the price is half what it was. and uplink is way better..
