Oh, I'm also trying something new this year and using my Chromebook beside my regular laptop so I can refresh from time to time but do work/other stuff on my regular laptop without having to change tabs/etc. Hopefully it works out for me!
Chromebooks are something i haven't used yet, used chrome os on a tiny PC for a month or so but dedicated chrome hardware is something i am really curious to test.

The hardware varies depending on what you get and how much $ you want to spend. I'm an addict for a Thinkpad nub so when I noticed they had a closeout deal on their 14" Chromebook, I jumped on it. Only thing that kind of sucks with the model they had the deal on is it's only 8G with it soldered to the board. Though to get a premium Chromebook with a nub (also has a wwan card but I don't use it) for like $400, I'm happy with it. Even after the guaranteed updates end 2032, I can flash a different bios and go with some other OS.
Something nice about actual Chromebooks is you get both Android and a Linux container. At least the last time I try flex or whatever they call the OS for non Chromebooks, the containers weren't available. There's also a steam app available
