I don't get it! Did @jar just assume the gender of someone based on their IP? How can @jar know that person was a "guy", since "he" did not identify themselves or their gender in any way, shape or form?

Or maybe, just maybe, @jar had a conversation of enlightenment with himself in the mirror, and reached the point of understanding oneself (as Socrate says) to understand the whole world afterwards, so therefore @jar reached that point of understanding of who that guy was. I just don't get it!

@jar is transgender, born femail and identifies as mail.

And like all other femails, he always blames "the guy".

Oh, so this rabbit hole is really deep and hard to penetrate with our outside mind. Interesting yet convoluted approach.

  • Why is a topic about private network turn into a gender discussion now?

Because every weekend I get dressed up and hang out at the bus station.

And meanwhile you use the private network of the bus line, right?

  • @JAR what are you these days?

    • etc ...

How brutish! I think, @jar has the intelligence and experience to react in a more sophisticated way. Like so, example:

That attacker (see? I did avoid saying "guy" or "girl"!) is always using the same GET request and it's to a certain PHP file, which means Jar can use scripting to his advantage by simply checking the request's IP and if it's attacker's IP Jar can have his site respond in a specific way like e.g. redirecting the request to 172.21.0.255 which might be the attacker's broadcast address. Or, even more subtle but certainly crippling the attacker Jar might send what is the normal response but slightly garbled plus a long random number sprinkled in here and there.

    OR

@jar could modify the certain php file to contain the simple text "F U" to the attacker, so that when attacker opens it they will be amazed by what @jar could possibly message to them; especially when someone so sophisticated as @jar goes down to such simplistic and vile levels. Besides, in case @jar would ever receive such offensive message, he/she would also be amazed, therefore this is highly likely to work. Besides, everybody has emotions, even @jar - right? Right?

Genuinely curious - why .21.0.3? Is this cribbed from some random example in a setup manual or something? I googled it and there's a github issue about MariaDB and some traefik question that mentions .22.0.3 and .23.0.3 as well.

EDIT: oh maybe it's some docker related stuff. Dug a bit more and found that most cases it shows up, it looks likely that they're also using docker. FWIW, I've never used docker as I think running a VM per service is conceptually cleaner.

I am hereby changing my pronoun to hot mail, this will surely end well

If I may, I am guessing you're not going to change the pronoun of your spouse into hot wife.

172.21.0.3 is male because it's an odd number.

No. Male numbers can also be seen as even, because males have two ⚽⚽
