Yepp, not as usable for ME as wished for, nor for ASIA, but the routes for most of Europe are really ok.
This is a vps-3 in Milan:
nws.sh Europe:
nws.sh Middle East:
And as comparison a Middle East test by LZ Marseille:
If you do traceroute to Vultr SG it is 340ms because it goes through US.
From OVH Smokeping
Very bad product from OVH. Here is the speed test from @ouiheberg which has better connection than both OVH Marseille and Milan (this is a €10/year vps)
OVH Marseille
OVH Milan
I have a server from a small FR host. Their servers are in Lyon. Some of the routes to these ME ISP are awful.
Not ovh related
VPS-1
"Drive is NVMe type, except in Local Zones which use NAS storage"
Locale = Slow drive disk
OVH network is as clogged as my toilet
That is why I use OVH, for Europe.
U.S. local zones have great network. They have also been mostly sold out for weeks.. its a great deal. (the VPS-1 in local zones)
But not all US lz locations.
Miami, Dallas, Los Angeles are good, Palo Alto close behind. Seattle ok as well.
But Denver is useless and Atlanta mostly backholed through Ashburn.
I have Denver and Atlanta, very happy with those locations. They have their own Arelion and Cogent hookups and lots of traffic goes through the local IXs. I believe each location has 2 x 100g IXs. (the IX connections are not dedicated to the local zones, but it can use them.)
and Denver backhauls somewhat to Chicago and Portland and Atlanta backhauls to Dallas and Ashburn for anything not going over the local IXs or the local carriers.
Do you have any good testing probes beyond e.g. Globalping? Access to Ripe Atlas or the like?
I'm always curious as OVH is (at least in Europe) really good in connecting to ISP. Would love to see more probes in the US that are not inside a DC but e.g. Spring, AT&T etc. pp.
Wait is it random if you get the intel or amd cpu?
And how long does it take to get delivered if the server states "Available now" ?
AMD is in local zones, the OVH DCs get Intel. (and Milan seems to become a OVH DC, so Intel plus all models and not just the vps-1 which is the only one in lz)
Heres from OVH Virginia, VA US, asia could be better

OVH LZ VPS-1 (MIA), non the best route to SA, but some crazy performance here.
Wow, that's some crazy I/O. And congrats for the upgraded network, looks like at least 5Gbps
Apparently, it reaches up to 10 GBPS, perfect for prem idling
what the... how do you have so high network and I/O speeds? You won the lottery!
I only placed the order in the mia lz location, since it was required, and I received these speeds. Maybe it was just luck, or just temporary due to the new lz, Idk. At least I'm not too sad about missing KS-LE-B
Definitely lucky.
How I can order OVH VPS in Switzerland as when I click any configure link on page https://www.ovhcloud.com/en/vps/vps-switzerland/ then it does not shows any Switzerland location
These are (probably) older seo spam pages by OVH. (The vps-1 though has a Zurich location option as a so called localzone).
If you open https://www.ovhcloud.com/en/vps/configurator/ and choose the VPS-1 model (only that one is available in local zones like ZRH), you could choose ZRH as location (localzone vps). But it is probably oos most of the time.
So how does YABS look like now in "regular" zones with OVH VPS's ? Anyone have VPS-3 or higher ? I see above from ShalaWorks for VPS-1 (?) but that also probably got deployed on node that did not have limits at time of testing.. ?
I think they are not worth it.
I have a VPS-2 in Germany. I mean the network is pretty good, really consistent.
Single Core Performance in Geekbench6 is worse than a freaking Rasberry PI 5.
Even my 1 € VPS from Strato is almost twice as fast in single core loads...
BeroHost 1 € VPS is more than twice as fast in single core...
VPS-1 - Locale Spain-Madrid
Note from OVHcloud: “The storage is NVMe, except in Local Zones, which use NAS storage (Network-Attached Storage)”
nice
Well my VPS is down...
It was a german Server, not local zone.
OVH states "Hello,
Your VPS vps xxx is currently unavailable due to an unexpected underlying infrastructure malfunction.
Our teams are working on this issue.
Thank you for your patience, we apologize for any inconvenience caused while we resolve this issue.
default"
Anyone else has bad expirience with ovh vps?
Can happen with all providers.
Doesn't mean service is bad in general.
Of course not, but that doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
Specially since i got the Server like a week ago.
Server is down since half a day.
