edited November 2025 in Requests

Hello LET,
I want a VM with these specs:
one CPU core (specify model when offering), full usage must be allowed
Throttling up to 50% CPU is fine , but no suspension whatsoever
2 GB RAM
15 or more GB Storage
At least 100 Mbit/s port, unmetered
One IPv4 address, /64 IPv6
Ping sweeping and port scanning has to be allowed at least on IPv6
No DDoS protection
Debian 13, any location, any VM software

Also, I wonder if scanning IPv6 subnet is realistically possible.

Yes it is, good amount of IPv6 adresses are not random but contain many zeroes

Yes, but just this type of abuse, no need for 100% bulletproof

Sorry but no, this is what I consider "bulletproof". Good luck with your searches tho.

There are some ways to scan IPv6, but the entire approach is completely different from just scan 0.0.0.0/0 and private/reserved address space exclusion

    https://ipv6hitlist.github.io/
    https://docs.censys.com/docs/internet-scanning

Censys also leverages redirects and the Domain Name System to discover and scan in-use IPv6 addresses.

I just connected to 195.201.247.11 on port 80, 8080, 22, 23, 43 and 9999. Is my ISP supposed to suspend me now?

I just thought it might fit for your purpose. Kali is nice imo bcs most common tools are already build-in, but thats fully personal preference.

  • KVM Premium XS, from @advinservers looks so promising
In the ToS they say port scans need approval, so I am asing for it here

Portscan is not an abuse IMHO

I mean, if someone sends a valid (not forged factually/evidence) complaint that covers reconnaissance of their infrastructure, it's a big red flag.

Do I want, as a hosting provider, to have clients who do something that could quickly escalate to unauthorized penetration test? Definitely not.

I would note, however, that TCP SYN (or a bunch of them) isn't a proper evidence due to how easy it is to forge one. But established connections (which are considered unsolicited by a remote party) are.

  • Port scanning is only allowed for rich people like censys or shodan

They do a lot more than just scanning services and ports - they publish this information making it accessible for everyone without actively interacting with any specific target.

However, I like Censys for being transparent about their network used for scanning activity unlike Shodan. So you could easily preventively block them.

Also, except of commercial services doing portscans I see some legitimate researchers backed by Universities doing similar, but with way more limited scope.

    Yes

What port were you scanning for? What provider?

  • Hetzner gives you a notice with logs, if you wont stop/solve it, they are suspending network on your VM/Dedi

    80 / 443
Don’t remember the provider it was a while ago.
But many providers will suspend you as soon they receive an abuse complaint.

And some providers automatically send abuse complaints when a single ip reach many ips of their subnets in a short timeframe.

Logging is good when you have to suspend

No, I don't think they offer it fully free and to everyone who asks
