I used the restore environment again yesterday. A newer 6.x kernel would be really helpful. The newest one there is 4.x, which is missing support for some important things.
The Debian 13 version of borg backup is 1.4.0, but the static versions of borg 1.4.0 (that can be used in a restore environment) don't work with the 4.x kernel. I could only get the borg-1.2.8-linuxold64 version to work.
Also, there are btrfs features that are unavailable with such an old kernel (like zstd compression and block-group-tree).
