@oloke can we add Tencent Cloud to guards.re?

    Hello @Rubben ,

Thank you for mentioning our very valuable and insightful summer-host aggregator. After careful consideration and evaluation we decided to add 10¢ Lighthouse to our summerhost listing.
We didn't know you're actually the owner but we're pleased to talk with such high ranking member and hope for future collaboration.

    Wish you a good summer!
    Best reguards, guards.re team

  • Seeing a big company like Tencent Cloud coming to LET is great! Welcome!
Hope to see you more often and have a great sale.

  • @TencentLighthouse I just realized that your Lighthouse products doesn't have auto-backup plan. Snapshot is not backup. Do you have plan to add that feature?

  • 2C2G40G + 500G bandwidth = $50/yr
    ($10/yr for first year only)

    Hard pass!!

@TencentLighthouse Do you allow private email server hosting? Also, what is the recurring price?

    https://www.tencentcloud.com/document/product/213/34833?lang=en

As per the above link, does it mean that we cannot host a private email server at all?

I am interested in Tokyo or Singapore.

    2vCPU / 2GB RAM / 40GB SSD Linux yearly plan.

    Any bench marks? https://github.com/masonr/yet-another-bench-script

Note: They need KYC with ID card.

  • I bought one. Just because I'm a member of my dynasty, I still have to provide my real name. I'm really speechless.

@TencentLighthouse I cannot run Geekbench on your 2G yearly promotional instance, it just freezes here, tried twice: [Working with support on this].

I cannot ssh into the machine from another tab or anywhere, I have to force reboot the instance and then only it works. Is it a limitation? or how does it work? I have never experienced this before. Kindly look into it.

    Thank you!

💰 Promotion Highlights (New Users, First Year)
🌍 Available Regions: Singapore, Tokyo, Silicon Valley, Frankfurt, Jakarta, Seoul, etc.
    Discounts:
    2vCPU / 2GB RAM / 40GB SSD Linux $6.30 / 6 months 75% OFF
    2vCPU / 2GB RAM / 40GB SSD Linux $10.08 / year 80% OFF
    2vCPU / 2GB RAM / 50GB SSD Windows $9.75 / 6 months 75% OFF
    2vCPU / 2GB RAM / 50GB SSD Windows $15.60 / year 80% OFF

The more honest way to present these is as a guaranteed 300% after 6 months or 400% price hike after 12 months. Ouch.

The initial prices seem competitive. The x4 and x5 prices do not come anywhere close to being competitive.

They are competitive when you compare them with other Asian companies registered in Asia offering vservers in Asia.

For instance see their Razor Speed VPS:
    2vCPUs 2G RAM 40G Storage 200 Mbit/s Unlimited traffic @ 5.6 USD/month

    Location options:
    Singapore/Tokyo/Jakarta/Seoul/Bangkok etc

200 Mbps unmetered in Bangkok sounds pretty good deal imho.

We don't have to agree, but the offer as posted seems just "OK" to me for the initial term and doesn't seem particularly good at all after the first year to me, especially when bandwidth isn't mentioned and you click on the link and it says 512GB per month.

That's not one of the ones they mentioned in the OP though, nor can I even see it from their page (only 2C1G @ $5 or 2C4G @ $12).

I have my doubts that this bandwidth would be available / honoured though as it seems too far the opposite direction. You could push 66TB a month through that, which is so far in excess of what you'd expect from an Asian provider at this price point, I can't see it being permitted if you actually tried to do this. For comparison, OVH Singapore advertise "unlimited at 500mbps" on a similar spec VPS and after 500GB you'd be capped at 10mbps.
