Looking for AU / Low Latency to AU Dedi(s)
Hi all
Australia always seems to be a pain to provide for, and some cursory googling seems to indicate that prices are still high. What I'm looking for is pricing for dedicated servers that have low latency (pref. less than 100ms) to Australia - some locations this seems to work with are Singapore, Silicon Valley (don't ask me why not LAX, I don't know).
Preferred specs
8+ cores
32GB RAM
500-1TB SSD
Preferably some kind of private connection between the dedis that isn't metered to enable clustering.
Looking to setup a cluster on it to offload my homelab.

Maybe @HostDZire have something for you in SG or SF.
SG: Seems to be about 90ms to Sydney AU
SF: 137ms to AU.
We can offer you something,
How much BW you need per server ?

OVH?
You might be at the right time now because OVH Australia just have their price dropped:
https://eco.ovhcloud.com/en/soyoustart/sys-1/
It should provide private bandwidth if the order page is correct and it only costs $33.2/m each.
Look at the offers by ransomit. Sometimes they have really nice ones coming up.
Also OVH has just slashed their prices in Asia and Australia: if you fine with a smaller one (e.g. SYS-1 with Xeon E-2136 is USD33.2 now afaik).
I can't comment on dedicated servers, but I've been hosting in Sydney with Hosthatch for years, and it is excellent.
I don't know how I missed that the SYS servers went down to 30 bucks for the cheapest noting I've been checking every day for their BF offers. That's a ridiculous price. Thanks @FAT32 and @OhJohn
Hm, just checked the eco pages.
If you just filter the list by location, OVH stills shows the old prices.
E.g. at https://eco.ovhcloud.com/en/?display=list&localization=syd
It is only updated on the order page when choosing the location there.
Also no real announcements or anything by OVH about the new Asia & Australia pricing.
So yes, easily overlooked if you do not follow some LET thread closely where api check & OVH catalogue monitor guru @loay posted this: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/4572776#Comment_4572776
and where by the previous prices (edit: and by the products sku) you could easily grasp that this is Asia&AU related.
@beanman109
and @MaxTakeba important new to read.
it s a weird question tbh
OP talks about having better ping to SV than LAX but this makes me think it's an ISP routing issue as it's opposite for me and usually for most since SV should be routed via LAX landing 90% of the time
really depends on where he lives but assuming Sydney (probably best case) it's not going to be possible to get sub 100 to LAX/SV, testing from 3 VPS in sydney i get 130-134ms to multiple LAX locations
Singapore would be the best bet as I can usually get 109-112 from Brisbane and that'd be more around 90 from Sydney
The direct line to Singapore is from Perth and usually gets around 70-80ms iirc and the hop from Sydney to Perth is typically 20ms
Guam to Brisbane has about 100ms when I tested last, but goodluck with finding any service at a reasonable price in Guam
US to AUS under 100ms isn't possible last I checked
Maybe when the Tabua Subcable is online and Brisbane has a direct hop to LAX rather than routing through Sydney but I'm doubtful, i'd expect to see more like 130 from Brisbane to LAX
tl;dr Singapore but it's not cheap, maybe Guam if you're a yacht owner
disclaimer: most of the ping referenced in this is from memory, it may be slightly out by 5-10ms
@beanman109 I think it's about informing you about the crazy price reductions at OVH Sydney (eco dedis).
Standard list price in SYD (and SGP as well) for a lot of eco models is now cheaper than the (max) 40% off you got at Asia sales offer last month.
Canberra (so basically Sydney + whatever speed of light latency 300km introduces) and using Leaptel (which is fairly good peering). Dunno what to tell you, I tried a couple of providers and it was better from SV than LAX consistently.
Thanks for the mention, but am I blind? I'm not seeing anything.
Oh and if you order for Sydney you're subjected to data caps.
It's not really that interesting for me as BHS is the best for the majority of my traffic. Even though 38ms to a dedi would be amazing.
Even though OVH has Hillsboro, stock is limited compared to BHS
