Issues with HostPapa IPs?

Hey everyone!

This is my first post on the forum and just wanted to see if anyone else has noticed this.

Whenever a provider uses HostPapa IPs, there is always an issue when it comes to the Apple App Store. Anytime you try to search it will fail.

I’ve tested this with ColoCrossing, DediRock, SmokyHosts, and HostNamaste. All HostPapa IPs, all have failing searches for the App Store. I’ve had IPs in the 66.x.x.x, 69.x.x.x, 107.x.x.x, and 192.x.x.x addresses and they all have this issue.

For those of you with a VPS using a HostPapa IP and a VPN tunnel such as WireGuard, do you also have this issue? It’s not a major issue either, just trying to confirm a theory while also finding it odd a service like Apple might be blocking any and all IPs that come from HostPapa from searching.

Have a great weekend everyone!

    Maybe not odd at all.

Data center IP addresses are often blocked, that's normal and expected.

And some IP addresses are blocked more than others.
Here’s a script that aggregates reputation data from multiple sources.

I also noticed that a couple of sites aren't accessible from ColoCrossing/Hostpapa IPs, but load normally when using IPs from other hosting providers.

Yeah this is what I noticed as well, other providers work fine.

  • ovh IP addresses get banned a lot too, same for Hetzner I think.

Not much you can do. Probably IPS are seen as VPN and then the App Store can block it. Depends on multiple things like IP reputation etc.

  • I'm currently experiencing issues too with HostPapa's IPs, but not with the Apple Store. I've got multiple clients getting blocked from a specific website, even though they're not sharing the same IP, and this was not happening before. I think something has changed.

  • Colocrossing is used by VPNs and sees a ton of abuse, so that could be why.
