As I read about 75% of the post:

I'm on the opposite: throttled as hell on CF; fine on OVH (but yes, I'm in Germany, so OVH is fine and yes, I use DTAG and they don't really peer with CF).

Very interesting. What makes this situation more interesting though that the local CF node here in HEL doesn't really "peer" with Telia/Arelion in the regular sense of the word as the tracert to the CF node is not in any CloudFlare AS but rather in the Telia AS with a .twelve99-cust.net reverse-IP, so it looks like the local CF co-location here uses Telia as its ISP so my connection to CF stays entirely within my own Telia network. Logically CF using Telia as their ISP should mean that CF here would use the exact same route as my own connection does and as they aren't throttled, I shouldn't be either, but I am, very strange.

Today I had a somewhat strange experience with OVH.

I had a simple KS-6 (128GB, 2x 512GB NVMe) ordered through the API about a week ago, and two days ago, when I went to pay for it, I saw that the same server was in stock but with 1TB drives instead, so I thought, “Nice, I hit the jackpot!”

But today I asked for an explanation through support, and they told me that not all the components are available in the data center to assemble the server, and they don’t even have an ETA. They even offered me a refund themselves.

It was shocking to me that they voluntarily offered a refund, since as a B2B client I’m not entitled to one, not being a consumer.

  • I see discussing one the OVH network; these diagrams are schematics of the OVH backbone network.
Those not labeled are gra rbx sbg and bhs.
For connections using dark fiber, they always have the highest priority.

The ETA's are worthless, OVH isn't buying this hardware.
Either they have it or they don't.

Could be some Rack which suddenly spawned in with 10 year old hw, they just added to the pool.

Have you build/designed those out of their smokeping/weathermap of OVH or where did you find those?

  • See, I never read their public general info websites as most of this is normally just marketing or seo spam (Order a dedicated server in Argentina* - you will probably find a subpage somewhere in the OVH realm for that).

But sometimes, they have some real hidden gems of information there (not on the seo spam pages though).

*) yes, do exist, see here: https://www.ovhcloud.com/es/bare-metal/dedicated-server-argentina/

I bought the KS-LE-C 2x2TB because everything else was sold out. It says DDR3 ECC, but it turns out it’s not ECC memory :( Memory type: M393B1G73QH0-YK0

If any of you want to sell the LE-B or LE-E EU HDD, let me know.

Need one in FRA.. Got one ? :)

  • I'm still very grateful that I was obtain this KS-LE-B with 2 x 1.2TB NVME - 64GB RAM - 1270v6 in WAW and I do not want to sound unthankful, but I would just like to check if there's someone who has the same config in SBG, RBX or GRA and is willing to do a swap because in terms of latency it would be better for me.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

PS. I'm not interested in selling. Please do not ask if I want to sell it; I won't. Thanks :)
