Unexpected VPS Reinstallation after Requesting CPU Host Passthrough (SolidVPS)
I’d like to share something that happened today with my VPS from SolidVPS, in case it’s useful to others.
Earlier today, I purchased a VPS from SolidVPS. It had been online for about 5 hours, and everything was running normally. Before making any changes, I created a snapshot from their panel as a backup.
After that, I opened a support ticket and simply asked if they could enable CPU host passthrough.
Not long after, my VPS suddenly showed up as freshly reinstalled.
This happened without my permission or confirmation, and the snapshot I created earlier disappeared as well.
For reference:
Screenshot showing the VPS online and the snapshot existing earlier:

Screenshot after the incident, where the VPS shows a fresh install and the snapshot list is empty:

I’ve asked support whether this was an accidental operation or a system issue, and I’m waiting for a reply.
Fortunately, I hadn’t stored any real data on the server yet, so no loss on my side.
Just sharing this experience — maybe it helps someone or someone has seen something similar.

Comments
i hope i don't see anyone say backup or data loss is responsible for client, and you have to take it manually
Manually, in another continent, disconnected from the internet, stored inside a 1 inch thick steel vault. Preferably 7 copies, one in each continent.

⇢ I paid for the order, and the system was deployed at that time.
Somebody mashed the wrong button maybe? They're probably drowning in tickets about random shit with the sale. Hopefully they do at least respond.
So you came here to whine instead of discussing it with them direct?
Hi,
There was no “wrong button” pressed. The order was accidentally deployed before payment, was subsequently triggered and terminated, and later redeployed after payment was received. We have explained this to the client multiple times via support tickets.
However, since we do not encourage this type of behavior, we will go ahead and refund the order and terminate it. In general, we prefer not to retain clients who act in this manner, especially when the situation has been clearly clarified multiple times.
@6wvy5ipw I have processed your refund and this server will be terminated in the next 3 hours so please make sure to take all necessary backup
he already open ticket
after creat Snapchat
"this mean he does ask for low end support"
and he just sharing his experience
and that's a wrap.
I had told you ,

Your system has a bug , your system think I paid on 11/07/2025 04:49,
I can provide all of screenshot for my payment.
MARK
You have been refunded in full. Since you mentioned here that there is no data on the server and the refund has been processed, we will proceed to terminate it.
We wish you all the best
Thanks for the refund.
However, based on what happened, I want to clarify my concern:
So your system can unexpectedly redeploy a VPS without user confirmation, causing potential data loss. Instead of investigating the bug or explaining what happened, the solution was simply to terminate my service after I reported it.
It feels like:
“We can't fix the problem, but we can remove the person who reported it.”
For me, this isn’t about the money — it's about reliability and transparency. If a system action can delete snapshots or reinstall without user confirmation, that’s a serious issue for anyone who has real data on the server.

its precisely because of individuals like you that some providers are reluctant to go lowend on prices to not attract ghetto behavior.
with the refund Solidvps killed 3 birds with one stone by protecting his support resource, maintaining his flash deals and weeding out whiners.
I'll definitely be getting something from him soon.
Indeed sharing
If reporting a data-loss bug is “ghetto behavior,” then maybe the real problem isn’t the customers.
Hello @SolidVPS, I heard similar things from @oloke and @emgh also. Can you please terminate their servers also? You can DM @allthemtings for confirmation before terminating their servers.
Keep being the best!
Edit: I was just shitposting, wasn't expecting a serious answer
yes the problem is you
Amazing.
System wipes user data without confirmation → fine.
User notices and reports it → “the problem.”
That logic explains a lot.
@barbaros Not sure where that information came from, but as far as we recall, both are active clients.
Perhaps @oloke, who we handled earlier orders, can clarify if there was any issue instead of relying on second-hand information (heard similiar things).
We’ve never had a problem like this before, and with 60–70 orders coming in within 10 minutes, it’s possible for a single unpaid order to slip through until it’s detected and terminated.
It seems like you’re suggesting we terminated an active client?? but that’s not the case. We’re not here to argue but what are you talking about? if we ever make a mistake, we correct it and openly but also acknowledge it and apologize.
yes correct.
that aside i highly recommend AWS for your needs.
But you said you had no data there yet.
What's it with people? Your first instinct is to come here and complain.
So,could you explain why the system deployed my VPS at 11/06/2025 23:31 right after I completed the payment,
and then redeployed it again at 11/07/2025 04:49 without any action or confirmation from me?
I originally opened the ticket just to give a friendly reminder that there might be a bug.
But strangely, after I reported the issue, the provider terminated my account.
Was pretty minor whichever side was factual. The provider's aggressive response is my takeaway.
Yes, the response was certainly aggressive — they immediately terminated my account.
They didn’t solve the problem; they just solved the person who reported it.
I'm pretty sure that was just a bad joke coming from @barbaros ...
I had no problems ordering, my servers are fine

I don't wish to participate in that thread, nor take any sides
