New hetzner vps

LeviLevi Member
edited November 2025 in News

So, good ol’ hetz released “affordable” vps line with legal cpu steal + Doubled price on previous "regular" line. Any yabs?

The structure of our new cloud plans maximizes your options:

Shared resources: choose “Cost-Optimized” server types for workloads with lower CPU requirements, or “Regular Performance” server types if you have average and variable CPU workloads.

Dedicated resources: with the “General Purpose” server types, you are guaranteed to have unshared resources, which are great for CPU-heavy use cases.

Flexible shared vCPUs are ideal for development environments, test systems and scalable web-apps. And Dedicated plans are better for compute-heavy use cases with production workloads. Regardless of which one you need, we’ve got a cloud plan that will fit.

There's no big difference on Performance.
Cost-Optimized line is almost the same to previous Intel one, but little cheaper ! I already changed to new plans few days ago.

  • @Arirang said: There's no big difference on Performance.

Assume, that "cost-optimized" line is fresh and not yet saturated. Once it get's to 85 - 90% of saturation (because node density on that line would be 3x - 4x of the "regular"), you will feel that.

I thought they just redesign on Pricing. CPU and Disk perfomance are same.

  • I remember how inexpensive it was back in 2018 when someone introduced me to Hetzner. Back then, my mind just went "probably a scam" — "you mean companies like AWS are charging 20 times more for no reason? Get out" (yes they are, they are for peak downtime)

No, they begun the squeeze water from the rock process. Word "optimization" is just price increase in diquise. It is not win situation for the customer. Sadly.

  • Shared is 7002 and 7003 (random), Regular is 9004.

  • "Cost-Optimized" is mostly Intel. If lucky, you can end up in EPYC Rome and the performance (at the moment) is as good as the Regular line.

Regular is only AMD, shared is AMD / Intel. So, not only 7003 and 7003.

  • not bad for the cheapest one
