@AlexBarakov AlphaVPS
@MikeA ExtraVM VPS
@DediRock Storage VPS deal
@Cam NAT VPS deal
@advinservers 🤟
@hosthatch really good VMs in a bunch of locations. haven't had a reason to seek anyone else for any of the regions they cover.
@RoyaleHosting love all my services with them, great ddos mitigation, nice panel, and really high quality network. have no issues saturating ports.
@gigahost i have several dedis with them, fun location. they sort of nickel and dime you on addons but if you're fine with their base offerings they're pretty well priced.
@ZachNuyek cheap and funny, wouldn't use in prod except as a failover of a failover.
I discovered online.net here a good while ago, when the atom boxes were just old-ish. They are still around.
hetzner, novacloud, netcup, ifog
Mzungu
Newtork is fast my man.
Going to cheat and name 4 rather than 3 that I’d feel comfortable recommending as solid choices
In no particular order
@hosthatch - Really nice custom control panel that sets them apart. If you buy their promo plans when they’re available you do need to read and accept the delivery timeframe as they’re generally not immediate delivery, but that aside I find them great. To date I’ve also had good support experience. Lots of location options.
Greencloud ( @NDTN ) - Really great LET provider who do some great deals including the recent birthday event. Have locations all over the place at solid prices. Support is absolutely crazy in its response time. Think maybe once I sent a ticket that wasn’t responded to within 15 minutes. That time maybe it was within the hour. Of the four, probably the one where during a flash sale or whatever you’ll get the lowest pricing if that’s what you want, without compromising on reliability.
@onidel - Aussie based provider that’s relatively new but expanding both to regions but also their offering. Best control panel I’ve used that keeps getting more and more features added to it. Generally a bit more costly than the other ones I’ve listed, but what you get in terms of their control panel differentiates them. Even can do hourly billing if that’s your thing. Feels really premium. Currently has a sale that’s worth checking out
@crunchbits - Got a number of VPS with these guys including storage. Going through a bit of transition the past 12 months, but my service has still been solid throughout. The team is a really cool mob ( including @crunchbits and @sh97 ) and when they do run promos there’s usually something interesting to them be it deciphering absolute gibberish in a pre-recorded video, solving puzzles that I’m sure make some squirm, or their legendary drawing competition. Their discord channels well monitored if you need assistance too.
I think in the EOY provider poll you tend to be allowed to pick 3 providers, and it’s really hard for me to narrow this list down.
At present I use:
Skhron @tentor
Onidel @onidel
Layer @rsk
All three are amazing.... But suprisingly skhron has superfast support considiring Indian Standard TIme.
I love control panel of @onidel its really looks nice.... Just one suggestion for onidel, remove those offer banners from dashboard and also dont dedicate a separate balance view on dashboard, just add the balance view in navigation menu. It would look super sleek that way.
I just have awful sleep schedule (or no schedule at all) :(
Thank you for the mention!
@advinservers is a company that knows how to deliver, has excellent support and is even a company I would want to work for. They also don't partake in unsustainable practices for fame. They have earned it through the hard work they've done. Not a customer due to circumstances currently but the second those circumstances change I would immediately jump back.
Prometeus
I found cca 2011-2012 and ended up working for them, still do. It caught my eye because of no compromise quality at still low prices. When you can have offers similar to Contabo and without CPU steal or other issues, then it is something you are doing right.
OVH
Once you accept the fact they are going to be OVH, therefore quirky as hell, then you can get very decent dedis at very decent prices. Their VPS offer is shit, though, I mean, it works, but I can find better and/or cheaper elsewhere or make my own out of the dedis at a fraction of the price.
Netcup
Amazing deals now and then, once you accept their quirks as well, I am grabbing every cheap promo and I know it works.
I have boxes with many other providers and, since 2008 or so, I had with many defunct ones. And, yes, while I work for Prometeus, I still pay for the boxes there
@labze Hostbrr
Super glad to hear that! It’s basically my life at this point
sus, probably run by indians.
charityhost
just kidding, you know what would make you my favorite host, restock Poland.
Btw it was slightly restocked yesterday, I just haven't announced it because restock is very limited.
supreme for public_html_ftp pr0n.
It’s funny that after the Biloh gang got criticized for all the fake reviews on ServerVerify, a lot of threads have been created on LET asking for reviews, totally random and from real users, of course.
What is the Biloh Gang? Context?
ColoCrossing related providers
I can confirm @tentor has awful sleep schedule.
At this point, I doubt he ever sleeps.
I first came across Lowendbox around 2021, when I was looking for a chaap server purely for VPN purpose.
The blog was about Racknerd, and their cheap offers starting at $12 or so. This was a time when they used to sell NL location. As I had just started working, I was a bit hesitant on spending money in dollars (at that time it felt expensive), especially on an unknown host based on a blog post, so I refrained from a purchase.
Then fast forward to 2022, came across Lowendtalk, and before an account my first purchase was a Gullo's NAT OVZ 128MB for $10 in SG, shared with friends, again for VPN purposes alone. I didn't know shit about linux back then, so it was my redhat approved friend who set up wireguard VPN for us. That's when I was introduced to stuff like TUN/TAP and other virt related things, and got introduced to SolusVM.
Then came the black friday and I started participating in the community, funnily on the Racknerd thread. Managed to get quite a few free servers, credits etc from there and so started my craze towards the idler addiction. I finally had enough VMs to experiment, learn and self host
I still have the flash sale special (my first flash purchase ever) which I paid $16 for, and still use it to this day. After numerous GA upgrades and stuff, it is now a 3c 3950X/3gb/55gb NVMe box in LA DC2.
Over the last 3+ years, it has been solid and reliable, with an uptime of 99.8%
While the support hasn't been the best, I've found @dustinc to be very helpful with any issues I've faced with them.
Overall Rating: 8.5/10
Next up is GreenCloud. My first purchase with them was for their 2022 Birthday Sales. It wasn't as lively as it is these days, but again, this was a shared VM with friends, and we got the Budget KVM-3 in SG DC2.
100% uptime over the course of a year. Of course, I had to replace it with other deals but I am still a big fan of GC to date.
Funnily, this was the first time I got fraud checked, despite giving correct info and on resi IP, and actually had to send an electricity bill or something to get approved. (I was vacating that appartment in a month, so didn't really care)
Support is probably the fastest I've ever seen on LET, but I feel in the need for speed, sometimes the message is not well interpreted. Eg: I was not aware GC had ports open, so I requested them to whitelist tuesday.mxr relay, and they set it as the rdns 🤣
I host many production apps like serverdeals.cc with them in SG. Uptime has been solid, definitely arround the 99.9 mark.
Other than that, they are one of the most value for hosts I've seen on LET. 1c/2g available year round for $15/y on EPYC hardware (and not E5/DDR3) with 10G ports is really incredible. And @NDTN has been extremely professional in their dealings on LET (at least imho)
Overall Rating: 9/10
Welp, guess I have a lot to say about the other providers I've used, will probably start a thread when I have time. But these 2 are the ones I've used the longest.
@tentor Skhron
@Hetzner_OL (But I have been their customer for many years (before joining LET))
@Clouvider Clouvider
My account/user doesn't exist on that ai ridden site and if that ends up there in going to be more than furious
