Proxmox Backup Server for Non-ProxmoxVE VMs

Hello,

Is there anyone using PBS for Backup for VMs not part of ProxmoxVE?

Last time I tried/tested PBS was a few years ago and files restore directly to VMs in that case was not an option. Also it was a pain to install PBS agent on OS other than Debian/Ubuntu. (Linux only)

Wondering if that has changed/improved with the new PBS release. So far, I have only seen mostly people using PBS for Proxmox-VE.

So in short, I am wondering if PBS is a good option to use for VM Backups. (Let's say setup via Virtualizor / Virtfusion / OnApp etc VMs)

Thanks

I am using different backups, including Borg, Jetbackup etc.

I am just wondering if PBS has gotten any better as a General Backup option and not just for Proxmox after the new update.

sure you can always backup files using the proxmox-backup-client cli
