Alternative to Hetzner storage box
Good morning !
I own an Hetzner storage box to host my Immich pictures with my family. It's working great.
However, for other personal archiving purposes, I would like to know if there are some alternatives, ideally a bit cheaper.
I am looking for something based in EU, with various protocols available (smb, sftp, webdav...) and something that is privacy compliant. Ideally it would also be scalable, if I get a 1Tb I would like to be able to expand to 2 or 5Tb should I need in the future without having to migrate.
I already have a VPS so I don't need compute for this.
I saw in this forum that HostBrr exists, are there other solutions which are worth looking for ?

Take a look at BuyVM. They offer affordable KVM plans where you can add Block Storage Slabs as needed — great for scaling from 1 TB up to several TB without migration. They also have an EU location (in Switzerland).

The only small downside is that SMTP is disabled by default, but you can open a support ticket to have it enabled (said in their wiki). SMB, SFTP, and WebDAV should all work fine on a KVM instance.
I'd also like to know what alternatives are available.
I think that Hetzner storage boxes are the best value for now.

Alternative is a 2nd hetzner box. Or an ovh dedi with 16TB.
Not at all affordable compared to Hetzner.
It is difficult to compare things to Hetzner, economy of scale works, so they do offer very competitive prices. However, I am in principle is not using Hetzner due to their stupid policies, including KYC. If you do not mind these things, finding 'affordable' alternative would be challenging.
