Alternatives to Mailbaby?

Hi,

Im using Mailbaby for transactional SMTP and im very satisfied with the overall service.

But i need an alternative just to use in case there are any issues or downtime with Mailbaby.

Like mailbaby, must allow sending from multiple domains without need to authenticate per domain (just SPF) and have a price model pay per use and/or with a cheap min. monthly fee (mailbaby no usage fee is $1/month).

Mailchannels is too expensive. Found jetemail.com but they have a min $10/monthly fee. Looking for something cheaper.

Any ideas? Thanks

Doesn't exist, as far as I'm aware. Either need to go with the single domain verify solutions to save money, or pay a higher minimum from Jet/MailChannels (lol)/etc.

  • Amazon TES?

Could you please point me in the right direction?

    No errors in all ranges.

I've never seen gmail/ python spf or similar report invalid spf and https://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?action=spf:spf-c.mailbaby.net:174.138.180.154&run=toolpage passes what is your test lookup

    Looks valid to me?

    _spf-c.mailbaby.net. 300 IN TXT "v=spf1 include:_spf-c_flat.mailbaby.net ip4:199.231.189.152/29 ip4:64.20.38.24/29 ip4:174.138.190.32/29 ip4:64.20.36.192/29 ip4:199.231.189.96/29 ip4:206.72.200.40/29 ip4:66.45.229.224/28 ip4:174.138.180.168/29 ip4:174.138.180.160/29 ip4:174.138.180.152/2" "9 ip4:162.220.160.0/28 ip4:68.168.211.160/28 ip4:66.45.233.16/29 ~all"

There's a quote there to separate the large record, but I don't see a space.

  • Maybe fixed. Checked a couple blocks, overall results are good. Some spammers exist, but not critical. Igone columns Fraud, Abuse and after (it is related to mail content).

Please issue a formal statement about spread FUD. I use baby mail for 2 years almost and didn't face any SPF related issue.

I think I found culprit. ip4 seems to be split across two TXT records

What about self-hosted tools for being a relay service? Does anything exist or it's only the DIY route?

Ideally anything that would allow me to issue a username and password (so my server can be smarthost) and just send out all emails through mailbaby or mailchannels (all domains would have both my server and mailbaby in SPF record).

It's just record splitting, that's still valid and proper software should remove the quotes and smush it all together. You usually see it with DKIM records because they're huge.

It would be invalid if there was a space at the end of the first double quotes or beginning of the second set, like "ip4:174.138.180.152/2" " 9 ..."

I probably would just rearrange it because someone's awful software will break it, but all the tools are validating it just fine.

Feel free to reach out to sales, we might be able to assist with something a bit cheaper if it's just for backup purposes.

I wonder if JetEmail is related to JetBackup/JetApps/JetServer 🤔

Nah, it's Fastmail. Or closely related to them, since they're using their IPs.

If it's strictly for transactional mails, what's stopping you from using @jar's mxroute?

Oh, cool! Thank you! I actually like FastMail! Maybe I should try out @jetemail 👀

We have nothing to do with Fastmail. We own our own IPs.

I believe Fastmail own the jetemail.net domain which may have caused the confusion :)

Oh, my apologies. I guess I was looking at the .net then for some reason.

I think you guys should consider a lower volume 'Pro' plan as a limited deal, perhaps on annual billing to make it worthwhile for you. Would definitely get a few more hosts/hobbyists around these parts trying you out on that.

Unrelated to the above, but your 'getting started' link in the resources menu 404s - it links here instead of here.

  • Only alternative is create your own smtp relay and its easy but only for backup purpose i have some really clean ip vps that do this work

  • mcsmcs Member

If you compare them at the same price as mail.baby or slightly cheaper, and also in terms of the quality of the SMTP delivery services, then the two services I suggested can be compared with mail.baby. See the links below.

    1. https://aws.amazon.com/ses
    2. https://sendgrid.com/en-us/pricing
