I got KS-2 in RBX with D-1541 and 10 Gbps network. Hard drives are 10 years old.

  • Anyone has KS-STOR lottery with 10 Gbps?

Hello neighbor! Same specs, 4x 4TB as well. Love the download speed.

3 HGST drives have 32k hours and one HGST drive has 10k hours.

I've got 1 in all EU locations - they all have 10 gig down. I'm letting go of 1 in GRA and 1 in RBX and my LIM has just expired. My other 2 I'm keeping.

  • For ks-stor, i have seen winning in GRA and RBX. For GRA, the probability is calculated to be 10%. For RBX the current sample size is too small.

I don't get the hype for the KS-2, yea nice 16TB.
With RAID you looking at 8TB, which costs you 3€ ish per TB.

    Doesn't look cheap to me.
edit: with Raid 5 you would get a bit more storage but still no deal for me.

You can abuse the shit out of those servers without worrying about your "neighbors" on a VPS.

CPU is pretty decent for a Plex and *arr media server.

OVH also doesn't care about downloading public torrents, never had problems with that.

  • There's no abuse happening on 500mbit uplink speed

Most people use raid0 in these cheap dedi as I know; raid5 on those old hard drives would perform totally not usable.
If its for production/business I'll consider higher lineup such as sys-store

    raid0 sys2sat32(former ks-2) yabs

    I like it a lot.
Proxmox with ZFS RAID10 runs quite well using a 32 GB ARC.

Add a few small VMs — Nextcloud, OpenMediaVault, OPNsense, and Pi-hole as a DNS filter — and you’re good to go.
There’s even enough capacity for a small Minecraft server, TeamSpeak 3, and similar services.

Sure, the disks are the main bottleneck, but at around €3 per TB for a dedicated server with KVM support, that’s a pretty good deal.
And if you ever need more performance, you can always spin up a VPS with NVMe storage for the heavy workloads.

RAID 10 is safe choice for KS-2.

  • I want to know something

    I am currently using SYS-1
    Intel Xeon-E 2136 - 6c/12t - 3.3GHz/4.5GHz
    128GB DDR4 ECC 2666MHz
2× 4TB HDD SATA Soft RAID
    500Mbit/s unmetered.

I bought this in May from an offer and got 128GB RAM for free at a low price.

    Is KS-6 better than SYS-1?

    AMD Epyc 7351p - 16c/32t - 2.4GHz/2.9GHz
    128GB DDR4 ECC 2400MHz
2× 4TB HDD SATA Soft RAID
    500Mbit/s unmetered.

Its processor was made in 2017, so the SYS-1 processor is around 2018. Is the other hardware in the KS-6 older than the processor, especially the HDD?

  • Depends on what you're doing, whether your apps benefit more from single-thread performance vs. multi-thread throughput.
