    • 100 flash sale servers in one location
    • within 24 hours they are requested to be transferred over to new location
    • capacity is now wasted in original location
    • cycle continues where locations and stocks are imbalanced
    • plus the way it wiuld be abused is just unimaginable
    • hosthatch offers it for a fixed fee.so definitely doable

    it seems like @ndtn can also do this with the fixed fee like $10 I guess, but maybe transfer of flash sale server would be more expansive

    Well they use standard solus and Virtfusion
    If they had a custom panel it would be much integrated

    I just oversimplified it

    I am sure there are other aspects of fraud and abuse prevention

    that makes sense, maybe we can ask if they have a plan for the new panel in the future

  • Well, they already allow location change for regular plans, with a $3 fee. They can just delete the old one and re-provision the new one; no need to move data, that's what backups are for. Assuming there's stock, and no capacity issues.

    But I get it, that's the terms. I'm sure they've got reasons.

    If you haven't thought it out in advance, and you've only got 1 second to pick a location, you might not make the best choice.

    Changing location is far-fetched but exchanging idlers sounds a little bit more feasible, if they could automate the process.

    flash deal non transferrable is to deter scalping. active customer flash coupons is to deter botting.

    i have >10 services and a few cant be transferred because of the new rules, but its unrealistic to reverse this as GC team has continuously optimized their rules and processes to make it as fair and competitive as possible.

    let's not forget they still strive to fulfil industry leading (meaningful) ticket response times of generally less than an hour (<10mins in my experience) day in day out, sale or no sale.

    this is a celebratory event so grab whatever you can while you still can.

    FWIW for everyone who haven't managed to get any flash sale (me included), I think that the ongoing 12th birthday sale deals (the 1212, 8888, 2222, etc) are very great. You guys should take a look, in case you haven't done so yet, as I believe it will end soon.

    I bought 2x 1212 deal myself which I know won't be idlers as they'll be my main VPS boxes from now on.

    And now I'm thinking if I should get another one. Still thinking because I don't want it to be an idler :lol:
