Hetzner removed 13900 from EX line

edited October 2025 in General

I was just browsing their website and noticed they removed the "affordable" EX line server with I9-13900 (EX 101)

https://www.hetzner.com/dedicated-rootserver/matrix-ex/

The only option available now is Intel® Xeon® Gold 5412U
They have 2 options for the same price and same cpu, but one with more ram and the other one with more storage.

The have been doing several stuff to remove the "cheap options" they removed 8TB HDDs also from additional hardware options and increased prices of additional hardware.

Seems like keeping their competitive pricing wasn't very viable.

Can't be ordered from the direct page neither

  • Hetzner have always had competitive pricing and have always removed certain lines. I dont see anything new going on here.

  • Probably end up in Auction from those who cancel it. Fair few 12900k knocking around. Nothing really new.

  • Gold ones are good. Wonder why they do not offer platinums.

Huh?? Ofc it's new. They don't usually leave such a huge gap. 39€ for the lowest model (low end cpu) then a jump to 134€ for the next model with a relatively very high end CPU . They almost always have something in the middle (in terms of pricing and cpu specs).

I haven't seen them doing such a weird jump since 2015.

    My guess is either:
    1. they're reconfiguring their mid-line offer (maybe a different CPU is coming?).
    2. They have trouble provisioning this CPU/Mobo so they disabled new orders until it's solved.

The 13900 is not yet in the auction, so can't confirm my first guess.

  • Don’t start off with a negative mindset. Hetzner’s dedicated servers have always been among the most competitive in terms of price-performance ratio. The EX101 model has been off the shelf for several days now. Excluding stock shortages and hardware issues, it’s quite clear that new servers are on the way. I have an EX101 myself—no problems at all, everything’s running smoothly.

It's nothing new. It always takes a while for them to introduce the new line, and for the old ones to show up in Auction. If I remember correctly, for 5950X, it took around 1-2 months.

  • The usual product lifecycle for that has ended, they do that with every lineup.

Thus should be standard for everyone.

Nah man we love 15 year old e-waste level Xeon servers for insane prices.
