Hey everyone,
I keep seeing people talk about running so many servers, and sometimes they even call it a “chicken farm.” I’m a bit confused — what do you actually do with that many servers? And what does “chicken farm” mean in this context? Could someone explain it in simple terms?
i have 3, and one self hosted server
in china, vps or machine has the same sound as chicken, so chicken is used as a jargon referring to vps in many forums, and it spreads across the world because many chinese have the needs to buy vps to bypass gfw.
then chicken farm is created referring to many vps .

another item: mjj, j is the initial sound of vps / machine / chicken in mandarin, m is the initial sounds of buy, at first it refers to buy vps, as an behavior, then it becomes a jargon or humor to say a kind of person who likes to buy vps. After many chinese wanna get the most bargain vps from all over the world, it makes many providers hating them. then mjj becomes negative.

i only have 6 servers for bypassing gfw.
two of them are free and get from here, microlxc and fossvps
an oracle free trier is still working after 5 years.
aws lightsail, it has the highest sla, and it’s pretty good for most of chinese users if you select nodes in asia.

scaleway stardust for hosting a monitoring program, it’s less than 0.5 euro per month, here is the tutorial
I also use komari as the monitor, but i enable the private site option so it’s unassailable publicly.
