How old were you when you started your first hosting company?
I was one of those annoying kids who'd start a fly-by hosting business over summer break.
13 - shared/reseller hosting, resold from a shitty "master reseller" account with horribly overloaded servers. This was before CloudLinux was used, just awful.
15 - Minecraft hosting. Had little idea what I was doing, but somehow brought in a fair number of clients until all my servers got hacked.
17 - VPN. Used the cheapest VPS' I could find, managed authentication via FreeRADIUS. Too damn saturated to get anywhere.
All failures, but good times. Wouldn't do it again but I wouldn't mind working for a hosting provider.

Not a company but I used to have one of the biggest CoD 4 servers. Multiple which were full almost 24/7.

14-15 I guess, wasn't exactly hosting company.
Offered HYIP/Autosurf website packages - design, develop and host all by me haha.
Started via Scriptlance.com then to full fledged website offering these services - good time!
About 12-13 years old - Free Shells! Huge thing back then.
18 years old - Dropped out of high school to start Gigahost in my dads basement. Gone pretty well so far.
I started "4VelocityServers.com" in 2002 (a game server provider). At the time I was 13. The first site was designed in Frontpage and customers were managed in a spreadsheet.
Soon after I was able to buy the domains Velocity-Servers.net/com and then in 2006 I founded ColoCrossing.
Time is passing so quickly.
that's awesome.
I really enjoyed the trip down memory lane. I haven't put eyes on that site in probably 15 years.
Not hosting but mail/bbs when I was young. I mean... No www bullshit at the time.
Dreams of trying turn into a career of memorable mistakes.

At the age of 18 started MPGServers in 2014 which transitioned into LevelOneServers.com and sold to @PureVoltage in 2024.

Man y'all some serios bisneses at such young ages. At 14 I was just skateboarding, playing games on my C64 and selling hash in the forest behind my school at lunch.
I ran a BBS in very early age which kind of evolved into ISP/hosting when I was about 16 I think. I did not actually own it, I had a guy that owned it on paper, but I was running it all of my own. This was some time in the 1990's, so it was all dialup and html running on Sun hardware. Made some serious money selling websites and mail to companies since this was something brand new and not many people knew how to do it.
