    I would like to request a move to the Microtronix node (Location: Ottoville, OH-USA) if it is not too much trouble.

    You can just go ahead to delete my existing VPS and create a new one at the new location.

    Hello fellow LowEnders!

    It's been a while, but our birthday is coming up and we've got something special in store.

    As correctly noted by some users, in the last few weeks we have restarted all the VMs giving them a nice little resources bump.
    Minimum RAM is now 1GB with storage now at least 20GB. For the donor plans you can get up to a maximum of 4GB RAM and at least 40GB of storage, more depending on availability in the desired location.

    In Sweden we have added some extra diks.
    50 or 100GB of HDD storage in addition to the OS drive - not too shabby, huh?

    We'd like to again remind people of our two newest nodes that haven't seen a lot of requests yet, from MicroTronix and HostingBot.
    If you'd like to be moved to any of these feel free to send a message or post here and we can make it happen.

    The Tokyo donor plan also received some love with extra RAM and storage.
    And that brings us on to the star of the show, our new location generously sponsored by the team at Servers.Guru;

    SINGAPORE IS LIVE!!!
    The plan will have the same specs as Tokyo and be donor only,
    1GB of RAM
    20GB of storage
    200GB bandwidth on 100 Mbps port
    For now it's IPv4 only but IPv6 is on the roadmap.

    Is this for every location? For me (London), in manage.freevps.org panel it shows 20GB but df -h / reports 10 GB.

    If it is expected, don't bother. 10 is enough :)

    Then I suspect you installed manually?
    Everything installed using the cloud-init images from VirtFusion should see the increased disk space automatically.
    If you installed manually you'd need to expand the partition yourself.

    But give me your client ID and I can take a look.

  • Last time I used a 'free' vps is ten years ago, never again. There is no free lunch in western society.

    I believe I used the UI to install debian 12, so not manually. But, for upgrade to debian 13, I did it from the VM itself using typical changing of apt sources list.

    Found your VM, seems you used Debian 11 actually.
    Hm, don't know if it's because the base install was so old and that's why it's not picking up the extra space so I guess you'll have to do it manually.
    There are tons of howtos for that online you can follow without reinstalling :)

    Thanks. If anyone is having the same problem, here is what I did (for ext4):

    $ lsblk # check you current state
    $ growpart /dev/vda 1
    $ resize2fs /dev/vda1  # ext4 specific command

    To check if it's done: $ dh -h /

    CHI dead? The manage panel does not even show the status, whatever it is on or off

    The system failed to respond to the action request. Further attempts are likely to be cancelled until the system is responding normally. Try again in five minutes.

    Hello,
    GTHost · PHX, US servers appear to be down for a few hours now.
    I can log in FreeVPS.org, but I can't get the server information.
    Is it GTHost level maintenance or server trouble?

    should be back up now, apologies for the inconvenience.

    Thank you for the heads-up. Could you help me recreate my server in Liberty Lake if possible? Existing one can be deleted as all data has been backed up.

    Done.

  • Sorry, currently you do not meet the requirements.

  • I’ve just registered on the FreeVPS portal and I’d love to apply for a free VM.
    My goal is to use the server for learning Linux server administration, testing lightweight web applications, and deploying a small project monitoring tool.
    I’d prefer a Singapore or Germany location for better latency from my region.
