I do get that the SATA SSD on inexpensive server will not probably deliver gigabytes/s.
But, just to give some perspective, here are results from two of the VPSes I own.

    $15/year VPS:

fio Disk Speed Tests (Mixed R/W 50/50) (Partition /dev/vda1):
    ---------------------------------
    Block Size | 4k (IOPS) | 64k (IOPS)
      ------ | --- ---- | ---- ----
    Read | 98.75 MB/s (24.6k) | 1.15 GB/s (18.0k)
    Write | 99.01 MB/s (24.7k) | 1.15 GB/s (18.1k)
    Total | 197.77 MB/s (49.4k) | 2.31 GB/s (36.1k)
               | |
    Block Size | 512k (IOPS) | 1m (IOPS)
      ------ | --- ---- | ---- ----
    Read | 4.04 GB/s (7.9k) | 3.32 GB/s (3.2k)
    Write | 4.26 GB/s (8.3k) | 3.54 GB/s (3.4k)
    Total | 8.30 GB/s (16.2k) | 6.87 GB/s (6.7k)

    €12/year VPS:

fio Disk Speed Tests (Mixed R/W 50/50) (Partition /dev/vda1):
    ---------------------------------
    Block Size | 4k (IOPS) | 64k (IOPS)
      ------ | --- ---- | ---- ----
    Read | 78.28 MB/s (19.5k) | 496.47 MB/s (7.7k)
    Write | 78.49 MB/s (19.6k) | 499.08 MB/s (7.7k)
    Total | 156.77 MB/s (39.1k) | 995.56 MB/s (15.5k)
               | |
    Block Size | 512k (IOPS) | 1m (IOPS)
      ------ | --- ---- | ---- ----
    Read | 474.53 MB/s (926) | 468.39 MB/s (457)
    Write | 499.75 MB/s (976) | 499.59 MB/s (487)
    Total | 974.28 MB/s (1.9k) | 967.98 MB/s (944)

The first one is way too good for the price, but the second one shows values that would be expected at this price point I guess.

I'm just raising my concerns here, luckily don't have to open tickets with you.

Check the series you bought from. Some are SATA, some are NVMe.

Just to give some clarity: the results I've pasted were from VPSes from two different vendors, not DeluxHost. I was trying to prove that the fact that VPS is dirty cheap does not have to mean that fio results will be in KB/s or even low MB/s.

Sorry, I didn't realize the $12 wasn't DeluxHost. Totally agree that promos can be quality. If you grabbed that $12 with NVMe from their C or E series (just off the top of my head, there could be more), you'd be getting higher throughput and IOPS (example, I'm curious how non-discounted DeluxHost compares, and I wonder if they're throttling this, but either way, this is good performance). They even offered NVMe/EPYC at one point, I think.

This one here is same series, but the expensive VPS was slower than the cheap one. Maybe it's a crowded node.

@DeluxHost Will there be NVMe series again? :)

I hope it's not costing you much to have the AI generated nonsense responses to trouble tickets. One small voice telling you the standard autoresponse acknowledging ticket receipt is preferable so I don't waste 7 seconds reading the slop.

    Never waste my time.

thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

Just to clarify: the AI we’re testing is still in BETA and it never replaces our support team. When it cannot provide a useful answer, it simply flags the ticket for our technicians so they can step in right away.

The idea is to speed up replies for very simple requests (like VPS access details or basic diagnostics), while our team continues to handle everything else directly. We’ll be monitoring how it performs over the next weeks and adjusting based on feedback like yours.

Thanks again for letting us know your preference, we truly appreciate it.

Re-reading I can see that was harsher than I intended, I tend to be blunt.

I'm just not a fan of AI pretending conversation. I can certainly see where it might be useful for some low-level interactions and I'm likely not representative of anyone but myself.

Last two/three weeks have been pretty bad disk performance for all of my VPS on DeluxHost. Can you please make it stable, I have only had my servers for about a month and already half of the period has been bad and experience performance wise…
    Tickets #QKG-900275 & #DTS-149530

    I am hoping it doesn’t keep happening…

    this is just not good:
