I hv noticed that vps offers with amd processors are generally more expensive that the ones with intel processors, why is it so? are amd processors more power hungry? any other reason?

I've only seen AMD Ryzen, but have seen Intel Xeons, ...
-- Don't forget to look at performance, reliability, and core configurations (e.g, Intel's big-little architecture if on consumer chips).
There's an extreme difference in speed between an HEDT / server processor and consumer in single-threaded performance. Modern hybrid architecture chips are a nightmare to slice up in a desirable way with hypervisors. 13th and 14th gen systems have fears of silicon degradation and a history of being unreliable, ontop of everything else.
If you're looking at EPYC vs Xeon, then you'll usually find very little price difference. On the consumer side, there's less density of VM's on a consumer chip, and the preference is towards Ryzen. There's a price premium since the performance per core is expected to be MUCH higher.

Trend is buying amd since demand
Not many get intel
Old intels priced lower because old stock.
AMD offers superior performance compared to Intel Xeon
