Do any hosting providers accept cash?

edited September 2025 in Help

I like that Mullvad accepts cash for privacy, so I'm looking for host providers that accept it, too.

I dont see... well any providers actually promoting it, I presume due to it being a rare and annoying thing to accept, but which providers do actually accept cash?

How would someone go about setting up billing with cash, if they accept it? Is there a minimum term they require? What about preferred currency?

Does anybody prefer cash?

Meet me behind Wendy's and I'll take cash. Don't tell anyone where you're going and if anyone follows you I'm out.

If I were in the US I would actually think about doing that.

No jokes around here partner, obviously Im referring to cash via post, though.

You can send me cash, money order, cashier check, etc. but if cash it must be USD and has to be sent to a US address. I've had people doing it for yearly services for many years :)

crypto basically gives you the same (if not more) privacy without the hassle of mailing envelopes. With XMR/BTC you just click, send, done. Why bother with post office drama when you can pay in seconds?

Mailing in payments is actually more anonymous than crypto imo. Plus you don't need a real address to send stuff in the mail, at least in the USA. You can also drop off at third party mailing services, or post office boxes on the street. But most people who pay me cash/money order just do it to avoid payment processor fees and like cash (or want to help me avoid tax on it, but I still pay taxes on it lol). Very few, but there are some. Most people probably don't want to deal with putting cash in a bank or cashing a check, but I don't mind it at all.

  • Crypto is super easy to purchase and obfuscate its origins… I would not bother with cash volumes that are less than 1000 EUR / pm.

But that’s just me… much easier to get crypto and send it safely, compared to having to follow IRL opsec and get untraceable cash, make sure you don’t leave your DNA on any of the notes, envelope, always printing the label, etc… then there is CCTV to think about, and making sure you use different dropoff (or rather, pickup) points. Like I said, not worth it unless it’s at least 1000 EUR / pm.

They're both easier / harder in different ways (especially depending on location / depending on who you know irl). For me, it'd be easier (in general and opsec wise) to do cash.

If I were to get Crypto safely, I would have to go through a lot of hoops that paying directly with cash would solve.

Paying with cash would just make me basically cut out a step or two, as I would pay for the Crypto with cash anyways.
