Hello,
I recently posted on LET looking for a VPS. @Pjottertjah offered a plan and we agreed on a deal. After the VPS was provisioned, I requested rDNS. He said it was done, but when I checked, it hadn’t been updated. He then told me he couldn’t add rDNS due to the IPs’ reputation.
I asked for a refund and cancellation since rDNS is part of the expected server/network setup. He replied that services are non-refundable. I’ll be opening a dispute on the basis that the service was incomplete without working rDNS.
Sharing this so others are aware—confirm rDNS support in advance

Did you KYC’ed him? Or just wired money and fck it
I just wired him money because he is from LET. I trust him, but ....> @Levi said:

their terms which you agreed to says no refunds are provided for any services purchased from hstProv
es, I will open a dispute because I received incomplete service
how is your service incomplete?
you didnt get any disks?
No, that's not true. A lot of providers don't offer this.
We paid for the servers and the IP address, so we have the right to update the rDNS
If they advertised they supported rDNS, then yes. Or else, no.
I didn't get the rDNS update and I already paid for the server with the IPs ,
I think you're on the same side as @Pjottertjah ?
no i read your post and looked at their tos and laughed and just had to comment
If no, he has to write it on the service description
Good, when he does not have rDNS support, he has to write it on the server description, right?
If rDNS was critical to you and if it was a requirement, you should have asked to confirm before purchasing your server
Aaah, why do I have to ask if the provider doesn't mention that they don’t support rDNS?

Since they do not mention anything about rDNS, it would've been better to clarify by asking rather than assuming. You're also assuming you're entitled to a refund, but according to their terms, it explicitly state no refunds.
Updating rDNS isn't a right. If you feel I'm wrong feel free to lodge a complaint with the UN.
Presales questions is your responsibility, otherwise you're playing a game of FAFO. Ask shit like:
What's your refund policy
Do you support X feature.
Where is the seller's responsibility to accurately describe what they are selling?
Mods should change the title to warn providers of customers like you.
Why do you expect what is not written in the describe? It's common sense in real life.
You don't have any rights except what was agreed. If you didn't mention reverse dns and he didn't mention reverse dns, guess what?
I mean I agree with you that reverse should obviously be included, but a LOT of these hosts don't provide it and even appear surprised that you'd want it.
Anyway good luck with your chargeback.
Hey, I have a dedicated server with this guy, he is soo polite and professional.
Everytime I talk to him on discord he replies instantly! Network speed isn't the best but very stable uptime!
@angstrom @DP change title please.
If it was a required feature for VPS to function, it would be explicitly advertised as such and then you can argue that.
He doesn't advertise the feature so why would it be mentioned?
Go check the providers you use that support it and I bet they advertise they have that feature.
Don't wire money to some random hosting company. For LET hosts, always use a credit card or PayPal. And I'm saying this as a host who hates how high PayPal fees are.
I've actually won PayPal chargebacks against two hosting companies when both shut down after I paid. They were DediPath (2023) and GoodHosting (2015).
I actually only accept PayPal for a reason, even for CC transactions. Heck, I even pay 0.40% extra for dispute protection.
EDIT: I also remembered another VPS host, NodeJungle which was very similar to OP's, but I paid via PayPal.
They were completely shady, gave me Scientific Linux when I asked for FreeBSD. Didn't have a working ISO system. Refused to let me mount FreeBSD or get a refund. I ended up sideloading FreeBSD and set up a Tor exit relay in anger allowing everything, even Port 25 to ruin the IP reputation.
NodeJungle is long-gone but I've run Tor relays for 11 years since then, had multiple independent studies in college about Tor, gave Tor code contributions and run Fourplex allowing exit relays.
where is the customers responsibility to ask for what they want?
You claim he said it was done, and then said it couldn't be done. Provide the screenshots besides some pittance of a story. What sort of reputation makes it impossible to change rDNS? Are you known spammer? There's more to this story and I'm not buying into yours til you post something credible.
Yes, it's definitely an incomplete service if they don't provide you with reverse DNS updates.
if you lease a subnet rDNS option won't be available and will need to apply, to prevent spam or keep ranges clean. some providers won't offer rDNS on VPS to prevent spam
We expect every server to come with a banana.
If the server doesn’t come with a banana, it’s an incomplete server and we’ll open a dispute.
If the seller cannot include a banana with the server, the description must say “no banana”.
well the seller is dividing then sharing/selling the banana, and it isn't worth getting spam listed for couple a bucks. he is offering cheap dedicated i5 servers as low 32$/m
lol
