I think you're correct.
Making unenforceable rules just makes mom and dad look wishy-washy.
Maybe it should be reworded to "you're on your own" rather than being explicitly against the rules with all that implies.
You have to know yourself who's legit and who's not. Otherwise LET admins have to create a list with its names to deal with or not.
Time for mods to do a honeypot sting and ban the fuckers.
Disable PM/conversation won't prevent from being scammed, but scammer/scalper will think twice.
how much did OP paid him?
He was trying to buy from me last week i thought it was odd when he asked if i was the original owner of the server or bought it from someone else...not sure what scheme he has got going on but it seemed sketchy at the time
he also asked me if i was 1'st owner.
he paid me with stolen PP account as a service when i asked as FF and my mistake i let my pants guard down.
Mind sharing his OVHCloud NIC?
it can be another buyer handle.
i can only disclose it to authorizes or mods.
@ehab and others who got scammed in these kinds of transactions:
I strongly recommend that before you proceed with any transfer, you first contact the hosting company and let them know about it. Doing this beforehand is much easier than trying to sort things out after everything has already gone wrong.
If the provider does not let you transfer services, well then there is a reason why ( they do not wish to deal with precisely these type of situations that take time to unfold ), and then you are on your own.
We took into consideration the things you all wrote/described here, so we will update the Transfer policy we have shortly.
Hope you guys manage to fix/solve this issue.
Cheers!!, HOST-C
If I understand correctly, you transferred the server out? Perhaps you can contact OVH to revert that. In the confirmation email I receive after I changed the contact details of a server, they say if you contest the change, you should call them. I've never done it and they will probably argue that you are the one who changed the contact details, but they could also be helpful?
that he already did that, but I do wish to see how this ends.
Provider should revert the change if the Evidence is solid. ( we did this a few times )
i tried to call the phone number does not work.
so in cp there was a chat agent open and they said once all contacts have changed they cannot support in such cases.
thanks for the advise, next time wiser but there is a saying backhome "the thief beats the guard"
something good comes out of this experience .. for example now you have terms updated and mods will talk a bit.
WTF OVH??
They have something better to do? Like to put out a fire???

I did not expect this from such a big company.
Most of the times, unfortunately.
Yeah, wow how popular we will be

But shit post aside, yes, these are cases that we do not treat in detail in AUP/TOS, so I will figure something out.
Sorry fellas for being scammed.
