[WARNING] OuiHeberg - Suspended Paying Customer After Following Their Own SSH Instructions

OuiHeberg suspended my VPS for "brute force attacks" when I was trying to login using SSH credentials their own support team provided. Now demanding immediate restoration and compensation.

Background
Service : VPS Lowendtalk ($9.50 USD annually, paid until 16/06/2026)
Issue Started : SSH login problems after VPS reinstallation
Their "Solution" : Provided new SSH credentials (IP: 50...*, User: root, Password: z*********)

The Problem
Ticket #912489 : Reported legitimate SSH access issues
Their Response : Technical support provided SSH credentials
My Action : Attempted to login using THEIR provided credentials
Their Reaction : Automated system flagged my legitimate attempts as "brute force"
Result : VPS suspended without human review

Current Status
Service : SUSPENDED (paying customer locked out)
Latest Action : Filed urgent commercial support ticket (#057504) demanding:
Immediate restoration within 2 hours
1 month free service compensation
Written guarantee this won't happen again
Direct escalation to senior management

The Irony
Their support literally said: "I've just moved you to the new VPS platform, which should resolve your issues" - then their own system punishes me for trying to access it!

Questions for the Community:
Has anyone experienced similar automated false positives with OuiHeberg?
How responsive is their commercial support vs technical support?
Any suggestions for escalation if they don't respond appropriately?

Evidence
All tickets documented: #912489 (original issue), #935350 (suspension notice), #057504 (current escalation)

Update Promise : Will update this thread with their response. If they don't resolve this properly within 24 hours, I'll be taking this to consumer protection authorities and payment dispute.

Warning to Others : Be careful with OuiHeberg's automated security systems - they might suspend you for following their own instructions.

Anyone else think it's ridiculous that a hosting company suspends customers for using the credentials they provide?

Ok...but are you going to go for that great business opportunity to purchase silk nylon catguts?

Wow - who do you think you are. You pay $9.50 and demand the above. Low cost comes at a cost, you expect too much.

  • Anyway, I think you should edit your screenshots and delete your name.

LET needs drama but these ones are pretty boring and repetitive

    You missed what actually happened.
I couldn't reinstall the VPS properly, their SSH credentials didn't work. They switched me to a new panel with new IP, still couldn't log in. After another reinstall, I hadn't even used the VPS yet - and the next day I got a "brute force attack" suspension email.
How do I "brute force" a server I literally never accessed?
Look, I appreciate they offered a refund - that's better than some VPS providers who do nothing. But that wasn't my expectation. I just wanted to USE the service I paid for.
If they can't handle their promotional pricing, then don't offer it. But once they do, shouldn't basic functionality be guaranteed? All I wanted was to log in and use my VPS normally - what "extra expectations" is that?
My only demand was: restore my VPS so I can actually use it. Is that unreasonable for $9.50?

  • I don't even have to open the thread to know it's going to be a child's tantrum with a side of unrealistic sense of entitlement for a 10 USD a year server. But still i open it. What's wrong with me?

  • "Child's tantrum"? "Unrealistic sense of entitlement"?

Oh right, easy for you to say when you're using your "noble" OVH.

Of course someone paying premium prices would think us $9.50 peasants shouldn't expect basic functionality like working SSH access.

Must be nice looking down from your high-end hosting throne, telling people they're "entitled" for wanting servers that actually work.

Maybe try downgrading to OuiHeberg and see how much of a "tantrum" you throw when you can't even log into what you paid for.> @fredo1664 said:

    Hello,
You’re just trying to create drama. We’ve already been more than fair by refunding you. When we unblock the VPS several times and you never fix the issue, we have no other choice but to take action. We are not here to host malware.

  • Yes,you are right.

    What Actually Happened
Step 1: Couldn't reinstall the VPS properly
Step 2: They gave me new SSH credentials but I couldn't log in
Step 3: They switched me to a new panel, IP address changed
Step 4: Still couldn't log in with the new credentials
Step 5: Did another reinstall, hadn't used the VPS yet
Step 6: Yesterday got an email saying suspended for "brute force attacks"
    Step 7: Now they're processing a refund
    That's it.

Sure it's a tantrum when you don't even try to have a normal conversation with the support guys and just post a load of AI generated garbage on LET to try and what? Put pressure on the provider by shitting on them on the very forum where the get their customers.

  • service cost less than $10 a year! if provider spends more than 5 min in a ticket, this is financial loss for provider. cost in france is high. a single abuse and client should be ignored if not know how to resolve brute force outgoing from this vps.

    "AI generated garbage"?

I submitted multiple support tickets explaining the situation, but they kept insisting I was doing "brute force attacks" despite never being able to log in. When normal support communication fails, of course I'd seek help to articulate my case properly.

And yes, I found this VPS deal on LowEndTalk, so posting my experience here is exactly what this forum is for - sharing hosting experiences, good or bad.

Would you prefer I just stayed silent about broken services so other users can waste their money too?

That's fair enough, as I mentioned. It's much better than those VPS providers who don't do anything, which I have to commend. But look at what I did.

Ah, yes, yearly LET offers must come with random dramas.

At this point, just ask refund.

Yes, so they have already refunded me. What else can I do? I can only accept it like this.

Looks like their ssh autoconfig template being mis-provisioned. Allowing(opening holes for) brute force attacks while blocking legitimate users.

    "AI generated garbage"?

Yes, inflating simple issue into multi paragraph AI generated garbage and including IMMEDIATE DEMANDS section. Man, stop being so entitled and stop lying about business disrupted because of $10 VPS. Even just reading this ticket from support team wastes their valuable time while they could help regular well paying customers. And the damage to professional reputation? This thread did way more than some cheap budget deal ever could, and you clearly wasted more money discussing here that you could spend on higher end product.

  • I have been customer of Ouiheberg for more than 2 years & half, never experienced any issue with them. The support is usually very responsive, & understanding.

Definitely the last French hosting company I expect to see here for that reason.

I remember having one of my IP temporary blocked by their protection (email spam sent by compromised mailboxes), but when this happened, they notified me with the reason & I investigated from my side. It was fastly resolved the same day, and it was on weekend moreover is. Never had any false positive.

This story look a little bit weird by my eyes.

Look man, I tend to lean to the side of the customer because LET but it's not uncommon to be unhappy with a host and since they refunded you I'd just move on to the next one and stop with the outrage and list of demands nonsense.

I do appreciate you posting your experience but leave it at that.

Would you be setting some weak password during the reinstall you performed, if so that's is why, your server gets taken over because of the weak password, then used to brute others.

As for your demands, I only got 3 pickles on my last burger compared to the normal 3 as standard, may I demand a full meal free ?

  • They don’t want you as a customer apparently, for whatever reason. You got your refund, just give up on the provider and move on.

    Thanked by 1oloke
  • Move on with your life and just get another VPS. Accept that they don't want you as a customer.

You're just wasting time here trying to create drama and trying to shame the provider when in reality it doesn't seem like they have done anything wrong.

Try it. Post confused facial expressions in response.
